Connie stirred the next morning in Jacob's arms and looked out of the window of the room, to see Mr T stood with an elderly couple.
She prised herself from Jacob's arms and went outside, "everything ok?" she asked.
"Connie, this is Michael and Jane. Layla's parents. Maya's grandparents"
Connie nodded weakly, feeling extremely awkward.
"And you are?" Michael asked.
"Mrs Beauchamp. Clinical lead in emergancy medicine and consultant in cardiothoracic surgery" she replied.
"Mrs Beauchamp saved Maya's life" Mr T added.
"Thank you, for taking care of our granddaughter. If you don't mind me asking, why are in there? With that man and the other baby" Jane said.

Connie looked at her in confusion, "that's Maya's father, Jacob, and that other baby is her brother, Noah" she said.
"Her brother?" Jane asked.
"I'm sorry if we seem a little out of the loop here, but we haven't seen our daughter in over three years" Michael told her.
"Oh. Would you mind taking a seat whilst I get Jacob? Then we will explain everything" Connie said.
They nodded then Mr T took them to the relatives room whilst Connie went back into Jacob.
"Babe? Wake up" she said softly as she stroked his cheek.
"Hmm please tell me it's just a dream" he groaned as he stirred.
"I'm afraid not. Layla's parents are here" Connie told him.

Jacob got off the bed as Connie picked up Noah who was still sleeping.
He looked at Maya in her incubator before following Connie out and to the relatives room.
Mr T left them as they sat opposite Michael and Jane.
"I'm sorry for your loss. I really am" Jacob said.
"Thank you" Michael said sincerely.
"Mrs Beauchamp, you said he's Maya's brother? He doesn't look old enough, no offence Jacob" Jane said.
"That's because Layla wasn't his mother. I am" Connie told her.
"This is Connie, my girlfriend. A few months before I met your daughter, Connie and I decided to have a baby. Layla was completely accepting of it, but found out she was pregnant too. She didn't tell me, but still ended things as she knew I was in love with Connie. She came over to tell me she was pregnant, then a few nights later was in a car crash. Maya was born prematurely" Jacob explained.

"Wow, that's a lot to take in" Michael said.
"I know. If you'd like to sit with Maya you're more than welcome. You can hold her hand too" he said.
"I'd like that, thank you Jacob. And, congratulations, on both of them, you too Connie" Jane said sincerely.
They got up and went to Maya's room as Connie curled up with Jacob.
She began to feed Noah whilst resting her head on Jacob's chest, "well done, I know this is hard for you but I'm proud of you" she said,
"Thank you sweetcheeks" he replied.
"I should probably take Noah home, and check on Grace. I'll bring you some clothes and things later" Connie said.
"Ok, thanks baby" he smiled.

Connie drove home with Noah, she had stopped off to pick Grace up on the way.
"Can I see the baby? Is she going to be ok? Will she come home to live with us?" Grace asked as they pulled up home.
"Yes, hopefully and eventually if she is ok" Connie replied.
She took Noah inside then went upstairs to his nursery and laid him down as he slept.
Connie then picked up a small rabbit toy of a neutral colour which she packed into a bag also containing Jacob's clothes, wash bag, phone charger and iPad.
"Mummy?" Grace asked from the door way.
"Yes sweetheart?" Connie replied.
"If Maya comes to live with us, will you forget about me? Because you'll have two babies to look after?" she said.
"No, I would never forget about you Gracie, I promise. You'll always be my baby girl" Connie told her.
Grace nodded and hugged her mum, "I love you mummy" she said.
"I love you too" she replied.
