In Screaming Color

Prologue

Bea's POV

I offered my hand to her as she struggles to walk on the slippery pathway made of rocks but then ignores my simple deed. It was raining that's why it was twice as hard on reaching our destination. But she didn't seem to mind for I haven't heard any complain. She was letting herself face her struggles alone as she came to where I was standing. She brushed off the dirt on her hand.

"You're ignoring me."

I said as I show my disappointment through my face. She looked at me in slight shock due to what I have said. Perhaps not expecting me to act in such a way.

"I'm fine kasi."

She patted my shoulder and walked past by me. Our tour guide was calling our attention to come over and listen to his instructions.

"So we have now arrived in the feet of the waterfall. Let me just remind tourists to be cautious of their actions. Let us all help to preserve this beauty for the younger generation to visit next time. Let us not be selfish to such gift. Keep your trash to your bags and we will find a place for that later on. My group will set up the tents on that part, and rest assured everyone will have a place to stay by night. Now please enjoy the gift of nature that is around you. Have a good day!"

The tourist had went on different directions. Securing their backpacks on to the tour guides. She was left on the center of it all while I was a few steps behind her.

I wonder what's going on through her mind at this moment. Or to what was going through her mind when she said yes on coming here with me. I came into a smile due to my curiosity. Questions perhaps I wouldn't be able to answer.

"Bei! Tara?"

I was too distracted to even notice that she was already staring at me. I nodded and went to her side, and placed our bags below this huge tree as we inform a guy who is watching us. She didn't even wait for me before taking off her shirt where she had her bathing suit on and plunged into the water.

"Bei, it's freezing! Halika na."

She shouted like nobody was with us. Still the carefree girl I met. Still the same girl I fell in love with. Maybe? I don't know. I hope so.

After securing our stuff, I sat on the rocks as I let my feet dangle on the water. Letting my body adjust to the water's temperature. I searched for her, she was leaning on the rocks just a feet away from me. I decided to swim onto her direction.

As I came closer, I noticed that she had her eyes closed. Inhaling and exhaling in a slow pattern. Sign of being relaxed. I stopped right in front her, keeping enough distance to keep our body from touching. I took my chance of staring at her without having to explain myself, well, not until she opens her eyes.

She had wrinkles at the end of her eyes, proof of laughter. I will always know her as the girl with the sweetest laugh.

Here I go again, comparing her to what she used to be. Hoping that she is still the girl I found a few months back.

I flinched as I felt a hand on my waist.

"Bea.."

She whispered still with her eyes closed. Maybe she felt my presence earlier.

"Yes?"

"Thank you for bringing me here. I really needed this."

She smiled a little before looking at me. I nodded as a response. Still frozen with the lingering sensation of her touch. She held my hand and we went to somewhere we are alone, for now. We hiked our way to the top of the waterfall and went all over the place. By this time, the rain came into a halt.

I allowed her to walk anywhere she wanted. Scribbled all over her face is the nostalgia given by the things surrounding her right now.

To enjoy as well, I sat at the edge of the water. Allowing it's rage hit me, and with every splash I have relaxed myself.

"Bea!"

I heard her shout and instantly my eyes went wide. She was out of sight. I quickly got up and ran towards the sound of her voice.

"Bea! Bilis!"

I stopped at the sight of her. She was sitting on the ground away from the water's touch. She seemed fine, safe actually. She was smiling and pointing at her tummy, though I didn't understand why. So I came closer until it was all clear to me. I kneeled beside her.

"Jho.."

Her name was all I was able to say for I as well was left in awe. I didn't expect to have a life where I would be able to see such thing where people had only dreamt of seeing.

"Bei, I'm at the end of a rainbow!"

She exclaimed, extremely happy and satisfied as if it was her greatest achievement. I can't help but smile to what I have in front of me. She was like a child again, acting like rainbows are the best and most beautiful thing our eyes could ever lay on. I couldn't agree more.

But then again, she still is the most beautiful thing I had my eyes see, watch, stare, and loved. And she doesn't know that. Not anymore.

And as if I have ran out of words of admiration, my mouth had still another function.

I kissed her.

Passionately. Slow. Territorial.

And she allowed me, responding in such a way I didn't expect.

"Bea..."

She whispered between kisses. Wasting a few more breaths we had left. As we pulled apart, we were breathing deeply. And contrary to how I value my privacy, I hoped in that moment, Jho can read my eyes. I wanted her to read my mind, my heart. I wanted her to know what I think about her, what I feel about her. Again. After all this time. Over and over again.

Jho was my pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
