Chapter 22: Someone Else's Lip Lock
Tuesday and Wednesday passed in a blur of boringness and avoiding of the weekend because it would mark the end of the boys' stay. It was a topic that no one wanted to bring up. It was like talking about it would make it come faster. But, whether we liked it or not, it was coming, and nothing would stop it. We could only enjoy what time we had left. Terry and Peter would even be off work tomorrow to spend time with the boys. But, today, we were stuck in the living room while trying to figure out what to do. Drew was busy today, so we couldn't really crash his pool. Well, we could, but I don't think his dad would appreciate us doing that.
Kadence leaned over towards me and whispered in my ear, “I am so wanting to grab his stupid, little face and kiss the life out of him.”
It didn't need to be said who she was referring to; we both knew it was Zayn that she had her eyes set on. Literally, she was shamelessly staring at him as he lounged on the carpet with his eyes closed. I wanted to tell her that I was so wanting to grab Zayn's stupid, little face and kiss the life out of him, but I thought that might cause some conflict. So, I nodded and kept quiet. It was something I was too good at.
It was yet another hot day with nothing to do. One of the many downfalls to living in a rural town in the Midwest. I was surprised that we had made it to the amusement park. They even went twice and got to see the zoo. That was even more surprising, but considering the circumstances, it was understandable. I wondered what it must be like to live in the busy city of London, the heart of England. It had to be fun and keep them on their toes. Maybe they thought that this small town was insignificant and boring, but I bet that they welcomed the break from reality this place provided.
I couldn't disagree though. This town could get boring with the same faces and the same places and the same stories. That was why Kadence, Drew, and I were so set on getting out and discovering the rest of the world for ourselves. I had never traveled out of state, and Kadence was the only one out of us three who had ever been out of the country. Drew and I didn't have opportunities to go anywhere exciting. Occasionally, Drew and his dad would drive over to Illinois to visit his grandparents, but that didn't happen often.
So, because there was nothing to do and we were bored teenagers, naturally, we started a game of truth or dare. I was surprised we hadn't already played this game since it was so well known for being exciting and causing trouble. I guessed none of us wanted to get into this serious of a game when we hardly knew each other, but we were comfortable now. There was no telling what would happen.
“Should we make a consequence for not doing a dare?” Harry suggested mischievously as we sat in a circle on the living room floor.
“What kind of consequence are you thinking?” Kadence narrowed her eyes at him.
He shrugged and said nonchalantly, “Maybe for every dare you refuse, you lose a piece of clothing.”
I looked down at my tank top that already showed my sports bra and my basketball shorts that I hadn't bothered to wear underwear with today.
“Fuck no,” I said, sending a death glare to the smirking bastard to shut him up.
“Just a suggestion,” he said and held up his hands to give the illusion of innocence.
“I would say we could take shots, but I guess you wouldn't want that, right Kadence?” Niall asked.
Kadence's mouth set in a line, and she shook her head adamantly.
“How about we just play instead of wasting time on consequences?” Louis groaned. “We can all harass whoever doesn't do a dare. I’m sure we can think of things as we go.”
