You look like a piñata

Dear Diary,

Some say Courage is the power to let go of the familiar and I'd say they're right. Letting go of what's familiar is hard for anyone, feeling like a fish out of water, exploring the unknown. God is said to place the heaviest burdens on those who can carry its weight. Maybe that's the reason my life's been harder. Ever since I've been trying to forget and turn over a new leaf, my life's not bleak anymore. I feel like I've overcome a burden. Hopefully something more blood pumping will happen and meeting people won't be my biggest and only accomplishment here. Lesson learned: The key to change... is to let go of fear.

Weeks had passed after that day. Damon and I had gotten closer and closer. I even met his brother Stefan and his girlfriend Elena since they were practically inseperable. I have to say, Damon was hilarious. He speaks the most fluent Irony and Sarcasm I have ever heard.

I woke up the next morning and fixed up my bed. I opened the window and noticed it had just rained. The soil looked moist and I loved the amazing smell of fresh air especially in the morning. I changed into my skull tank top, denim jeans and black boots. I decided to make pancakes, I mean, who doesn't like pancakes? After I made them, I smudged some chocolate on them and rolled them, placing them on a plate. I thought I would eat them outside on my doorstep seeing I had literally nothing better to do. I felt like an old person for a second there. I went to my room and wore my black cardigan, grabbed the plate and sat on the doorstep, closing the door behind me. I just sat there, looking at the empty space which divided my house and the road. Flowers is what I need. I thought as I munched on my delicious pancakes.

“Are you trying to make me jealous with your pancakes?” I heard someone ask. I looked to see Damon crossing the street.

"Darn, you caught me red handed." I said, placing the plate on the stone step and running over to hug him. It was so weird, how close we became in just a few weeks.

"I can make some more if you like." I told him.

"Sure that'd be nice." I put the now empty plate into the sink and began making some more pancakes. I had already shown him around the apartment which didn't take long since it's not very big. He went over to the sink and began cleaning the plates and mugs. I had finished the pancakes and placed them on the counter.

"Would you like some coffee with that?" I asked.

"I don't want to be too much trouble."

"It's no bother, I'm doing for myself anyway."

"Okay then, thanks." I quickly made the coffee and sat down next to Damon. I sipped my coffee and laughed when he literally vacuumed the pancakes off of the plate, leaving his chin covered in chocolate. Although the funniest part was when I was laughing and he had no idea what I was laughing about making me, in turn, laugh even harder. I got a napkin and wiped his chin clean as we both continued to laugh and goof off.

"Hey Jane."

"Yeah?"

"There's this thing, called the founder's party. I'm invited to it and have to attend," His face displaying utter boredom, "Would you like to come? It would be more fun to actually know someone there."

"Um, that could be fun. Yeah thanks, only I wasn't invited." I replied, clutching my mug with both hands.

"I'm sure we'll figure something out." He smirked.

"Okay then, I accept your offer Mr. Salvatore.

"So, are you doing anything today?" He asked.

"Nope." I replied popping the letter 'p' and rocking on my heels.

"Why don't we go dress shopping then. The party is really fancy. And as thrilling as that sounds, we have no other choice but to do it."

"Yeah, sure I'll grab my bag." I smiled.

I got into his car and we drove to many different dress shops. I was amazed to why Damon came with me, I mean, he could have asked Elena to join me since he just sat there, waited for me to changed and judge the dress as if he was Simon Cowell on America's got Talent.

"You look like a piñata." He said, playing with a tie he'd bought.

"Gee thanks, every girl wants to hear that." I said.

"That's not what I meant. The dress is horrible." He said, getting slightly frustrated since he wasn't really one for compliments.

"Don't worry. I was kidding." I laughed and went to put on the next one. He was right it was hideous. I had only put it on because the helper insisted. I opened the curtain and walked out feeling pretty confident on this one.

"It looks good on you, but it looks like you stole it from an old lady." I sighed and put on the next one. There's just no pleasing him! I walked out again, wearing a blue strapless dress which stopped a little above the knee. It was cute and I felt great wearing it. It had small flower prints on it, which from a far kind of looked like sequins and a bow in the front.

"Woah." Damon said as I turned around. "Yep, this one."

"Um, does it come longer. I don't want to feel uncomfortable in front of the founders."

"I'm sorry, It doesn't ma'me."

"Come on Jane, It looks great on you plus all the young girls wear shorter dresses since it's accepted for their age. I'm telling you, you'd feel out of place if you wore a longer one," He whispered," That's what the old ladies wear."

That made me laugh. "Okay then, how much is it?"

"$129." All that for a short party dress? Really?

"I'll pay for it." Damon said, handing her the checkbook.

"No, I'm the one wearing it." I reasoned.

"Yeah, well, I'm the one with the mansion okay?"

"Hard to agree with that logic." We laughed and returned to my house. I waved goodbye to Damon from my window and put the dress in my closet.
