The whistle makes me their god

After eating a delicious, juicy burger and helping out by passing around some drinks, Damon and I decided to go fishing by the lake. I couldn't help but remember the days when my father would take me fishing with him every week and camping every Summer. We'd set up our campsite as fast as elves making toys on Christmas Eve. I can still hear the fresh, cool lake calling my name. Days on end, we would swim carelessly in the glimmering water. I learned how to catch fish and clean their raw, scaly bodies. I will never forget the sharp, rancid scent. But as the sun sets, the lake would slowly grow cold. The sky filled with bright, twinkling stars. It almost looked as if someone spilled a container of glitter in the sky. The campfire would blaze, warming the cool summer air. I could feel the heat touching my face and the campfire smoke almost perfumed my clothes. We would cook hot dogs hamburgers, fish, corn, smores; you name it.

My favorite part was cooking marshmallows. I'd hold it over the fire hoping for it not to catch on fire. But most of the time I'd pull it out with it drenched in flames, dripping sticky marshmallow and burnt to a crisp. Yet, there was always something about campfire-cooked food that I loved. Waking up in the morning with slimy, mildewed tents was probably the only downfall in the experience.

At the end of the week I'd wave good-bye to the campgrounds. Keeping the memories of the dazzling lake, crisp earth, twinkling stars, and sweet smells of campfire food. Although I use to have a ripping feeling of sadness, I'd leave with a smile on my face, knowing I'd be back the next Summer.

I broke out of my daze when I saw Damon desperately struggling with the fishing rod. When he noticed my gaze, he immediately stiffened and acted as if he knew what he was doing, which he didn't.

"You know, there's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore." I smirked. I was expecting an intellectual come-back but instead, he pulled his sunglasses off and looked at me with a menacing stare, an evil glint in his eyes. He wrapped his arms around me, threw me over his shoulder and sprinted next to the water at full speed where he dropped me in, in one big splash.

"Damon!!" I screamed, corrupting everyone from what they were doing. Damon just laughed at me, clutching his sides and I stood up and pouted. I was extremely annoyed at him, one reason was because I'd have to walk around with wet clothing all day now but that soon ended when I saw Stefan laughing his head off and Elena gigging beside him which, in turn, made me start to laugh as well. I walked back to shore, drenched in water as I ran to Damon, soaking him too but he didn't seem to mind.I saw the hunger and lust in his eyes. He leaned in and kissed me gently and softly on my lips leaving me breathless. His body inching closer which made my heart beat faster then it already was. He kissed me harder, wrapping his arms around my waist and gripping my hips. I put my arms around his neck kissing back. He smirked into the kiss as it intensified. I could hear faint wolf whistles in the background. I leaned my forehead onto his and opened my eyes slowly. I was in shock, his eyes were dark, they had dark circles on his gorgeous face and dark lines cascading across his face. I gasped and saw Stefan from the corner of my eye. I turned to him and looked back but Damon's face was normal. His face now displayed a look of worry.

"You okay, Jane?"

"Yeah, I just thought I saw something." I said, feeling rather confused but I didn't let it show. Damon then smiled, checked his watch and gave me a quick peck on the cheek.

"It's four, so thanks to you, I need to go and be a coach for a day."

"You love me anyway." I laughed and he did too as he ran off.

While Damon was gone, I occupied myself by talking to Elena and her friends. They were a really nice bunch and we quickly became closer even though there was a slight age difference between them and I. After going around the property a bit more, I decided to check up on Damon. Seeing him try to coach kids sounds hilarious. I walked up to where he was, seeing all the children in a line as I heard him in the distance.

"Today, you will have the honor of playing one of the greatest games ever invented. A game of skill, agility, cunning. A game with one, simple rule. Dodge." He said, as he picked up a big, red ball and threw it at a kid who fell backwards. "Sorry" Another kid raised his hand and Damon walked to him.

"Yes?"

"My mum doesn't let me play dodge ball."

"Well, your mum isn't here right now. So we're playing."

"But she says it's dangerous." The boy said before Damon cut him off with a whistle, making him jump. As soon as he saw me he began walking towards me, before flinging a sack of balls and saying "Go nuts."

"Having fun?" I asked smirking.

"The whistle makes me their god." He replied.

"Right." I laughed.
