---At Elena's House---

"Hello Jenna." I looked through the window to see Damon coming inside, holding a plastic bag in his right hand and two wine bottles in the other. He set them on the table and looked around.

"Where's Jane?" He asked Jenna.

"Hey dude!" I ran and hugged him around the waist as he groaned. "I love how you hate the word dude." I laughed along with Jenna.

"Well, I, being the most awesome guy in the world, thought Jane and I could cook dinner while you guys run out and do what family's do and then we could have a family meal. So, Jane and I would have a date at the same time." Jenna smiled and looked impressed.

"Okay, I'll leave you two." She said "I wanted to visit Alaric anyway."

Damon turned on the radio and got out the stuff from the bag.

"I hope you can cook, cause I'm not doing it by myself." Damon said. I laughed.

"What we eatin'?" I asked.

"I was thinking Pizza. Everyone loves Pizza right?"

We'd been cooking for a while chopping stuff and making the pizza dough...

"So tell me something you like to do." I asked him. I looked at him and smiled then I got back to work. I still feel like I know little about Damon. I want to know everything about him.

He took a deep breath. "Um, I like reading. I used to read a book a week." He said. I could hear the smile in his voice.

"Who knew the Badboy Damon liked to read." I laughed.

"Okay, we need a more interesting conversation." Damon declared.

"How about we do a random competition."

"Fine by me. You start."

"When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?" I asked whilst chopping some mushrooms.

"If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?"

"That's a good one! Umm, Why is it that when someone tells you that there are billions of stars in the universe, you believe them, but if they tell you there’s wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it?"

"Weird safety precautions - selling cigarettes at gas stations when smoking is prohibited there." We continued with our stupidity until the point where I was laughing way too hard and I felt a sharp pain in my hand. "Ow!" I looked down. I dropped the now bloody knife. I had a cut in my arm. A scarlet line was going across it and dripping on the counter. Damon stiffened.

"Damn!" I yelled, putting my arm under the water tap as much as I could. I saw Damon from the corner of my eye turn around. Maybe he got sick when he saw blood or something? It's pretty common.

"Damon, hand me that wash cloth please." I said. He didn't move.

"Damon?" I asked. I stared at him. His eyes started getting darker. The veins near his eyes starting popping out again. He looked away from my hand and looked me in the eyes. He came closer toward me. He was really scaring me now. His eyes were getting even darker. He grabbed my arm, his tightened grip was painful.

"Damon? Damon stop!" I cried. He stared into my eyes and let go, backing away slowly and exiting from the door. I was in shock, my back still against the wall as I clutched my arm as more blood trickled down. I heard the door being opened and in came Elena and Stefan. Elena looked at me and frowned. Stefan stared with a look of realization and ran towards my, examining my arm.

"Jane what happened?" Elena asked. I didn't answer at first, because honestly, I had no idea what happened.

"Damon came over, we were cooking Pizza for when you guys returned and I slit my arm by mistake. I was laughing so hard. Then Damon just...I don't know but he scared me."

“Okay, Jane listen carefully to what I’m about to tell you and please take my seriously. Damon is a vampire." I burst out laughing.

“Thanks you lightened the mood there Elena. You actually had me scared for a second, now tell me what’s really going on.” But there was an eerie silence on the other end and the smile vanished from my face. “You’re not kidding.”

“No.”

I froze. It couldn’t be true, it just couldn’t be. There was no such thing. Then I thought of all the animal attacks, Elena warning me to stay away from Damon.I slid down to the ground and leaned against the door in shock unable to think straight.I couldn’t get up. I sat there on the floor by the door staring at the floor unable to move.

“Your one too aren’t you?” I asked Stefan.

“Yes.”

“Do you trust me Jane?” Elena asked.

“More than anyone.”

“Then I’m telling you, you can trust Stefan.”

We went to sit in the family room and I stared at the ground. I suddenly felt intimidated by Stefan, scared almost.

“Oh my god,” I whispered. I brought my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around myself and buried my face as tears welled up in my eyes. “Oh my god, no this can’t be happening.”

“I’m sorry Jane,” Stefan said. “I’m so sorry.”

“How long have you...” I asked.

“Since 1864, Damon and I were turned by a woman we were both in love with, Katherine,” Stefan explained. “For 145 years Damon and I have hated each other.”

“You’re not going to turn into a bat if I wave some garlic in your face are you?”

“No.” He chuckled.

“How can you walk in the sun?”

Stefan held up his hand and I saw a large ring, I had seen the same one on Damon’s finger. “It protects us, helps us to fit in so people don’t suspect us.”

“Suspect you? You mean people...” Stefan nodded.

“The Founders Council knows vampires exist and they know the animal attacks were really vampires,” He said. “They use a special herb to protect themselves and their families that my Uncle used to supply for them.”

"Jane I slipped some of it in your drink a few nights ago,” Elena said.

“What?”

“It’s called vervain, it protects humans from vampires so they can’t compel you or get inside your head,” Stefan said. “If it’s in your system when they bite you it weakens them, although you'll need some more after it passes from your system.”

“Vampire’s can compel you to do anything, they can make you believe anything and they can hear conversations,” Stefan said.

There was silence for a few minutes as I took in everything Elena and Stefan had told me.Stefan’s eyes landed on my necklace

“Jane, where did you get this?” He asked.

“Damon gave it to me."

Elena put her hands behind her neck and took off her necklace and held it up for me to see. It was exactly the same as the one Damon had given me except her's pendant was blue.

“Damon really gave this to you?” Stefan asked again.

“Yes.What’s the big deal, it’s just a necklace,” I said confused.

“It’s full of vervain,” Stefan said.

I heard footsteps on our front porch and the doorknob turn. Damon walked in.

"Jane, I'm so sorry. i don't know what--" He stopped dead in his tracks looking between Stefan, Elena and me.

“Why did you give me a vervain filled necklace?”

"There was another animal attack last night Damon. I thought we'd agreed. You said you'd stop!" Stefan yelled.

"I did! Believe it or not I haven’t killed anyone in weeks. I feed but then I erase there memory and let them go.”

“You expect us to believe that?” Elena asked.

"Yes, because I have proof since I was at Jane's house yesterday."
