I stood in front of the floor-length mirror in my room. Elena and Jeremy had left about 10 minutes ago, and I was just looking myself over, trying to make sure that I looked perfect. I twisted and turned to make sure that my dress looked alright. It was a simple, yet slightly elegant dress that stopped a little above my ankles and had a 3-layer skirt. The top was a slight V-cut with spaghetti straps. It was just a light, white wedding dress since Damon and I had decided on a small wedding. After smoothing my dress out, I fingered the diamond pendant necklace that used to be my mom's. My hair was parted in a deep right part and it was straight, with a little bit of wave in the front. I walked over and sat down on the bed as I pulled on my silver sling back heels before walking over to the mirror again. I repeatedly smoothed my dress and hair out and checked to make sure that my light amount of make-up was just right.
I turned at a knock at my door and saw Matt walk in. He was dressed in a nice suit, but not quite tux material yet. His usually messy blonde hair was styled to look nicely spiked. He looked over at me and grinned.
"You look gorgeous, Jane." He said as he looked me over.
"No I don't. I look...blah!" I said as I turned to the mirror and pouted at the image I saw. There was nothing "special" about me. Nothing really stood out. I looked nothing like Elena did. I just looked like some random girl in a fancy party dress, not a gorgeous woman on her wedding day. Come to think of it, I wasn't exactly a woman yet. Yes, I'm almost 23 now... but still. This made it seem as if I was rushing into things but when I thought about it, I wasn't. I met Damon when I was 20. After the proposal, months passed. I guess a quick wedding wasn't for me.
Matt came up behind me and turned me around.
"Jane, you know that little flaw of yours of you never thinking that you look good is really starting to bug me. You look stunning all the time...and especially now." He said as he looked into my eyes.
"You have to say that because you're my bestfriend." I said, still pouting a little.
"No, it's my job to pick on you since you don't have a big brother of your own and Jeremy likes you too much to do it himself. But I feel like telling the truth." He said with a smirk. "Now come on, Damon and everyone else is waiting." He said as he slipped his hands into mine and pulled me out of the room.
The "Wedding March" started playing as Matt and I reached the area in the backyard where the wedding ceremony was going to be held. I linked my arm through Matt's and held my bouquet in the other hand as we started down the aisle. I let out a breath that I hadn't even noticed that I had been holding as I saw Damon's smiling face at the end of the aisle. Elena wore a simple light blue dress that stopped just below her knees. It hugged her chest, then flowed out over her stomach. My gaze shifted back to Damon as Matt and I got closer. His smile grew as we got closer, and I could feel the corners of my mouth twitching even wider then they already were. It seemed like it was taking years to get there, like the closer we got, the farther away he was. Finally, we reached the alter. Matt turned to me and kissed my cheek, before handing me over to Damon. He took both of my hands in his and laced our fingers together as I stepped up in front of him.
I sort of tuned it all out as I stared up at Damon. I studied his face as he paid attention to the whole wedding process of all that stupid stuff. I noticed how his hair hung over his forehead and stopped just below his eyebrows. I noticed how his eyes had this sparkle in them when he smiled, or how his nose scrunched up a little when he laughed. I noticed the little dimples when he really smiled. Then I noticed the love, care, and devotion that automatically filled his eyes as he looked down at me.
How could I have ever doubted this? I asked myself as we stared at each other.
"I love you." He mouthed. I smiled, but couldn't mouth anything back since it had gotten down to that part of the ceremony.
"Damon Salvatore, do you take Jane Moreau to be your lawful wedded wife, for rich or for poor, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?"
Damon grinned down at me as he nodded. "I do." He said automatically.
I smiled up at him and squeezed his hands lightly.
"Jane Moreau, do you take Damon Salvatore to be your lawful wedded husband, for rich or for poor, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?"
I took a deep breath as I looked into his eyes.
"I do." I said quietly.
"The rings." I finally broke my gaze from Damon as I turned back to Elena as Damon turned to Stefan.
"Jane, you first."
I took a breath as I took Damon's hand in mine. "With this ring, I thee wed." I recited like we had practiced at the rehearsal.
Damon smiled at me and took my left hand in his. "With this ring, I thee wed." he murmured.
"By the powers vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
Damon grinned down at me, before pulling me by the hand towards him. His lips crashed onto mine as he wrapped an arm around my waist and dipped me as we kissed. I laughed into the kiss as everyone cheered.
Damon and I finally pulled apart and turned to the crowd. "I am proud to introduce you the new Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore." Damon slipped his right hand into my left and laced our fingers. The cheering had died down before, but it soon started up again. I saw Matt and the guys stand and start cheering their heads off. Then I glanced over and saw Elena and Stefan cheering just as loudly, holding each other's hand and Jenna jump up and down as Jeremy clapped and stepped away from Jenna slightly embarresed which made me laugh. I snapped back into reality as Damon pulled on my hand a little and headed down the aisle. Tons of congratulations were shot at me and Damon as we walked. I felt like I was on Cloud 9 at the moment, just walking on air.
"And now for their first dance as husband and wife." The DJ announces as Damon and I entered the area I the backyard where we were having the reception. We walked over to the little dance floor that we had set up and Damon pulled me to him as we stopped in the middle.
"What song did you pick?" I asked, since I had left that task to him.
"You'll see." He said with a grin.
A smile spread across my face as "All My Heart" started playing by Sleeping with Sirens.
"I was hoping that you would pick this one." I whispered as we started dancing. He just smiled down at me and held me close. I sighed and leaned my head against his chest as we twirled around the dance floor, all eyes on us.
I listened to the lyrics as we swayed and felt that the lyrics applied so much to Damon and I.
Mostly everyone was on the dance floor with us after the song ended and we just danced, having a great time. "Original Of The Species" by U2 started playing and Damon gathered me into his arms again as we slowed down and just swayed to the rhythm of the music.
I felt someone stop next to us and turned to look. I smiled as I saw Matt standing next to us.
"Mind if I cut in?" he said.
Damon let go of me. "I'm gonna go check on Stefan and Elena. See how they're doing." He said as he started walking off.
"Probably sucking face!" I called out with a smile. Damon turned around and laughed at me, before walking away. I smiled and turned to face Matt.
