Lauren POV
I was so angry at Seth. I sat on bed trying to push back the memory of his behavior a minute ago and this morning.
I laid on the pillow, this bed is really comfortable. I wish I could take it home.
What a stupid thought it was!
I laughed at myself, how could I be so preposterous. I was so lost in my thoughts when I received a text message.
"Miss me?"
It was an unknown number.
"Who is this?"
"Ah! Sad that you don't remember."
What even? I was already annoyed and now this. I gave a rude replied.
"I don't like playing games. Tell me your name or fuck off."
"Ohoo. Angry bird. Huh? I'll tell you one day."
The hell!
"Who are you?"
No reply came after that. It was weird, I thought someone was teasing me. So I put my phone away and slept.
Next morning, I woke up, took a quick shower and wore a dark green shirt , white jeans with white shoes. I straightened my hair and went downstairs.
I saw Alicia at the dining table having her breakfast, I walked up to her.
"Good morning Sugar." She said when she saw me.
I smiled. "Morning."
"What would you like for breakfast?" I heard Susan. I turned to her.
"No. Thank you. I don't do breakfast." I smiled.
"What?!" She almost yelled.
"I'm sorry. But that's not good. You sit here I'll make something for you." She pointed me to sit.
"No.." She made me sit on the chair beside Alicia. I frowned at her. I saw Alicia grinning, "She always do this." she said. I nodded.
After few minutes, I saw Seth coming towards us.
"Hi girlfriend." He smirked.
"Boyfriend!" Alicia wrapped her arms around Seth. Just at that moment Susan came with pancakes.
"Pancakes! You know me so much Susan." said Seth excitedly.
"Seth dear these aren't for you. Its for Lauren." His eyes shift to me, he nodded and sat across Alicia and I. Chocolate Pancakes. Oh my god! I love this.
I glared at Seth and then focused on my pancakes. They were scrumptious, I've never tasted; this amazing pancakes ever before. I gorged them whilst Seth's gaze was trained on me-- why was he behaving like a bigot ?
After breakfast, I headed out to get some fresh air.
"Lauren." I heard a familiar cold voice. Seth.
I didn't turn around , and acted like I didn't hear him. He came in front of me, looking straight into my eyes.
"I..I wanted to apologize for my behavior yesterday.."
What?! Did I hear apologize?
"..I know I was rude-but I was a bit angry already, and I got anger issues." He shrugged.
Okay. That's how you apologize. I'm not impressed.
I sighed. "Its okay." I said cause it was better to let go. Just then I saw Hayden walking in, he waved at me and I smiled. He was a gentleman a softie and way too different from Seth. He had brown eyes and light brown hair. I guess brown eyes run into their genes.
"You ready?" Hayden inquired. I nodded. We were going to Clavane's company. He wanted to give me a tour of the company before board meeting.
"Where are you going?" Seth blurted out.
"To the company." said Hayden.
"May I ask why?" He crossed his arms to his chest.
"I need to give her a round. And before the meeting she needs to meet Grandpa's personal secretary and other people."
"She can meet them on Wednesday."
"Seth. What is the matter with you? You wanted me to do this. Remember? The-"
He cut me off. "I know. Stop lecturing me. Go then." He said without even looking at me. I frowned and walked away. After a minute or two Hayden came into my sight.
"You okay?" I nodded. He let me in his car and we went off.
The ride to the company was silent. I was still mad at Seth, he was so complicated. Hayden gave me a tour to the company. Everyone who saw me , welcomed me with a smile.
"This is Ayesha. Grandpa's personal secretary." said Hayden, as she gave me a bright smile. She had black hair with black eyes. She was taller than me.
"Hello ma'am."
"Hi." I smiled. All I ever was doing smiling at people. That's it.
"She will give you other details. I have work to do, I'll pick you up after half an hour." Said Hayden.
"Okay. See ya." I said and he left.
I noticed Ayesha was staring at me in awe. I raised my eyebrows.
"What?"
She shook her head. "Nothing. Its just..this is weird." She lowered her head.
"What is weird?"
"Nothing. Come on lets go go your office." She said and lead me to 'my office'.
It was huge, black and white furniture. I guess Clavanes love black color. I sat on the chair of the President. It felt awkward but I was okay with it.
I noticed she was again staring at me. I sighed audibly, "Ayesha what's wrong?"
She hesitated, "Uh. Um I don't know if I should say this or not. But you're not supposed to be here."
"What does that mean?"
"I mean Seth should be here. You shouldn't."
My jaw dropped. She knows about Seth. Oh God!
"How do you..?"
"Mr. Clavane was a very good man. He was like a father to me, I've been working with him from last 4 years. And I know things. That old man used to tell me a lot about his grand son and as I promised him I won't tell anyone about him. But when I saw you walking in with Hayden sir. I..I thought this is wrong. Its not who you should be here."
I could see the honesty and innocence in her eyes. I sighed. "Ayesha, I know. I'm not the one who should be sitting over here ruling over the entire company. But its not in my hands. Seth himself asked me to do this, he is my sort of friend. And I'm only doing for my family. That's it."
It was in my hands.
"But why would he ask you? He could've ask Hayden."
"I know but it's Seth's mom she wanted him to take control and he isn't interested in business. He wants to make his career in music. I'm just helping him."
"What if people find out?"
"They won't. I'm just here for few months then Hayden will be here on this seat and I'll be gone."
She nodded.
"So , can we talk about business now?"
"Yeah sure." She smiled.
And there we go again, she told me about the previous month's progress -which wasn't good. I was thinking professionally ; like I've been doing this for a long time.
***
"Tough day?" I heard Hayden. I was half asleep and half awake. We were going back to the house. I shook my head in affirmative whilst rubbing my eyes.
"You'll get used to it."
"Yeah."
I didn't converse . I nestled my head against the headrest . Need to get to my so called house and take a good sleep.
