Chapter 11

Seth POV

I watched Lauren sleep on my shoulder. I found myself grinning at her, I bet I look like an idiot; but she is so beautiful I couldn't help it.

I frowned at the thought , that someone is actually trying to harm Lauren and her family. Who could it be? Its someone definitely she knew back then.

I messaged Dean quickly,

Did you find out about the messages?

The reply came a minute later.

Nope. Working on it. But I know one thing.

What is it?

The person doesn't live in Connecticut.

Okay thanks.

See you at the fight tomorrow.

Oh right. I completely forgot about it.

See ya.

I put down my phone aside, I have to protect her and her family, she is my responsibility. I stayed awake for few hours in case Lauren or her mother needed something, but then I let sleep take over.

I woke up to the sweet sound of Lauren, "Seth wake up." I rubbed my eyes and slowly opened them. She was smiling at me.

"Hey." I said in a husky voice.

"Hey."

"How's your dad?"

"I checked on him , he didn't seem fine- I don't know ; somethings wrong with him. He didn't talk ... more like avoided me." She paused. "I asked mom , she said he is doing this since he woke up. I hope everything is fine with him."

She bowed down her head and played with her fingers. I gently held her hand and squeezed it.

"Relax, he'll be fine." I assured her. She nodded. Her mother sauntered towards us.

"Hello Mrs Campbell." I said standing up.

"Hello Seth. How are you?" She smiled but I could see she wasn't pleased to see me over here.

"Just a bit tired." I tried to be frank with her. She smiled again and turned her head to Lauren.

"Sweetheart why don't you go home? You look worn out."

"I don't wanna leave you guys here all alone."

"Its okay. We have doctors and nurses for our help, we'll be fine."

"She is right Lauren , and I guess you have business to take care of." I chimed in and reminded her she is a Clavane.

"Oh. Can I take a day off?" She gave me a pleasing look, I sighed and then nodded.

"You're the boss , do what you want to do." I shrugged.

"But go and take rest. You can come here later." I heard her mother say. She nodded.

"I'll take you home." I said.

"Okay."

She hugged her mother and walked passed me, "Goodbye Mrs. Campbell." She smiled at me.

I drove us to my home, I was tired as hell. I never slept being this uncomfortable. In all my thoughts, I missed the turn I needed to take.

"Seth you.." I heard Lauren.

"Yeah I know. I'll take the turn from the next right."

"Looks like Mr. Charming didn't get his complete beauty sleep." Sarcasm could clearly be heard in her voice.

"Its not like that. I just zoned out." I lied. She didn't drag on , and stayed silent, so did I.

I pulled the car in front of my house. My butler opened the gate for us. "Good morning Mr. Clavane."

"Morning."

I ended up landing on my comfy couch, I saw Lauren going up to her room. I closed my eyes and felt a soft touch on my face. Tiny little soft fingers going all over faces.

Alicia.

"How come you're awake this early?" I snapped my eyes opened.

"Boyfriend!" She cheered up.

"I'm going back to mommy."

"When?" I furrowed my brows.

"Tomorrow." Her eyes lit up.

"Okay. That's good." I smiled.

"I won't come back." She said.

"Why are you saying this?"

"Mommy said I'll live with her now."

"Okay. That's good. Isn't it?" She nodded and smiled. I kissed her on her forehead and went up to my room.

"Whats up man?" I heard Derek entering into my room. I was getting ready for the fight, I wore my usual black hoodie to cover me up. I gave him a bro hug.

It was late and everyone was probably sleeping. I decided to use the front door for my exit, but I wasn't in the mood to get caught by my butler and his thousand questions so it was better for me to use the back door.

"Lets go." I said as I opened my room door. We were heading down, on the stairs I heard a creaking sound. I frowned and turned my head, "Dude be quiet! You'll wake them up." I whisper- yelled at Derek. He raised his hands and muttered a sorry. I shook my head, I had a glimpse on the shadow forming in front of the white wall. They weren't two , but three. I wanted to turn around to see the person but the shadow faded. Only one person came into my mind.

Lauren.

I sighed and went out from the back door, I was actually being a burglar in my own damn house.

"Can I drive?" I heard Derek. I raised my eyebrows at him.

"What? I love your Audi. She is a smooth sexy baby." He stuck his tongue out.

"You sure you're talking about a car and not a girl." I snapped, he rolled his eyes.

"Fine." I sighed and gave him a car keys. He jumped and took it. He was smiling like he won first prize in a sac race.

We drove down , out of the clear wide streets. Alright here was I, back to my reality. I made sure my hood was covering me properly. I heard loud noisy banging voices, they were chanting my fathers name. Girls were going crazy at him , maybe those poor girls still weren't aware of his hundred percent more handsome kid.

What? I am handsome.

I went up to my usual corner, Dean and I bro hugged.

"He was sick last night." Dean spoke up and surprisingly I was able to hear him in this loud crowd. I shot my head up.

"What happened to him?" My voice was stern and cold.

"Don't know. He didn't tell much." He shrugged.

"He is an old lad , he should give himself a break." Derek chimed in.

"He's only forty." I said. My head straight up. I felt their gazes fixed at me.

"Only forty." Derek said out of sarcasm.

And here he was, Hyk. He still didn't loose his charm. The crowd got louder, I kept my gaze locked at him. I watched his every move, his punches, his blocking, figure skate hate and blah blah blah. Every time he fights there is anger in his eyes, I don't understand how someone could be so violent.

The fight ended and as everyone knew the result, Hyk won. People ran after him to touch him, to get his autograph or a picture.

"Bro , go home." I heard Dean. I nodded and drove back.

On the way back, my mind went to the event that happened earlier, Lauren's shadow. I just hoped she won't ask anything , cause it would be hard for me to lie to her.
