It's been three weeks since you've started working at Sky Media with Max, Adam, Red, Barney, Ross, Tim, Corey, and all the others. You really love it and you're finally enjoying life. How could you not? But, as always, life comes ringing. Well, not actually life, but more like your father comes ringing on your phone.

"Hey, Dad. What's up? You never call me," you say as you answer the call.

"It's your mother, (Y/N). She's back in the hospital. The doctor said her Lupus has caused her to have anemia. She's very ill and the signs don't look so good. Your mother may or may not know this, but with all these diseases popping up left and right, her chances of living are getting slimmer." Your father's voice begins cracking and he pauses for a moment to take a deep breath before continuing. "Currently, it's sixty percent. The hospital is doing everything they can but these medications just don't work. The main reason I called was to tell you that you should come visit us, her. She might not live for much longer and you deserve to see your mother for what could be the last time."

Tears pour out of your eyes as you listen to all of this. The woman who gave you life is now slowly losing hers.

"I'm booking a flight right now," you reply, turning back to your computer and wiping away the tears. "What hospital are you guys at?"

"Just come to O'Hare Airport and I'll pick you up."

"Alright, Dad. Tell Mom I love her and let her know I'm coming down to Illinois."

"Will do, kiddo. Text me when your flight is and I'll be ready for ya."

"I will. Love you."

"Love you too, (Y/N)."

The call ends and you put your phone down. Your body starts quivering but you continue typing away to set up a trip to Chicago, Illinois.

"Thank you for coming with me," you weakly smile to Max.

He hands you your bag and answers, "You need support right now, (Y/N), so I'm gonna be here for you. Plus it'd be kinda nice to meet my girlfriend's parents."

You both manage to find the plane seats and Max gives you the window seat. Once the plane is in the air, you rest your head on Max's shoulder.

"It was really nice of Adam to give us these few days off so we could do this," you whisper in his ear.

"This could be pretty serious, (Y/N). It would be straight up wrong not to let you go see your sick mother."

Tears form in your eyes again. "I don't want her to die, Max."

Max wraps an arm around you and nestles his head into yours lightly. "Shh. I'm here for you, no matter what happens. Don't think about that. Think about sleeping instead. It's around seven fifteen right now and we'll arrive there tomorrow around midnight. Close your eyes, (Y/N)."

You wipe your eyes with your sleeve and obey Max. Before you know it, you're dreaming.

(A.N. Not sure if the flight time is right but Google said about 5 hours so I'm gonna stick with that. Anywho, can you guys let me know what you think about my writing? Even if it's the most criticizing thing ever said, I wanna hear [read] it. Thanks.)
