Max

This must be really tough on (Y/N). She really loves her parents but one is dying. It's not for sure, but very likely. What if her mom does die? (Y/N) would be so heartbroken...

I look at (Y/N) and see she's finally fallen asleep. My hand brushes her hair out of her face and she smiles slightly.

What are you dreaming about, (Y/N)?

Max

You and Max hold hands as the flight attendants guide everyone off the plane.

"My dad said he was here," you say.

Max grabs yours and his bags from the luggage area and you finally spot your father. He waves and you point him out to Max. The two of you walk over and you automatically throw your arms around your dad's neck.

"I missed you, Dad," you tell him. He hugs you back and the embracing moment lasts for a while until your father releases you.

You grab Max's hand again and your father raises an eyebrow.

"This is my boyfriend Max," you confidently state. "We've been dating for about a month."

Your father doesn't say anything back. Instead, he just takes you to the car. The luggage gets thrown in the trunk, your dad drives, and you and Max sit together in the backseat.

Now, to the hospital.

"Can we go in to see her?"

The doctor confirms and you lead Max into the room quietly. Your father stays out in the hallway.

"Mom?" You whisper. The lady laying in the bed looks to her right and she smiles. You run up to her and hug her, watching out for the medical stuff.

You tear up as she wraps her arms around you, too.

"I've missed you so much, Mom."

"I know, (Y/N), I know."

"I'm really scared."

"Why?"

"I want you to stay with me forever..."

Your mother smirks sadly as she pulls you away from the hug. "You'll always be my daughter, (Y/N), whether I'm here or not. And I'll always love you. Don't forget that."

Max grabs your hand and squeezes it a little. Your mother notices, but doesn't say anything about it. She just smiles at you.

"Mom, this is my boyfriend Max. We've been dating for about a month. He really wanted to meet you and Dad."

Your mom waves Max over and whispers something to him when he bends down a little. He whispers something back; it's a long response. She nods and smiles and Max comes back over to you, reuniting your hand with his.

"I like him," is all your mother says before the doctor comes in the room. He ushers you and Max out and you manage to get a quick goodbye in. The doctor said, "She needs to rest," before closing the door.

Your father walks up to you with crossed arms. "How is she?"

"She seemed okay but she looked really tired."

"What did she think about your boyfriend?"

You frown slightly at the way he said your boyfriend. "She said she liked him."

Your dad and Max look at each other, neither of the two hesitating in any way. Max maintains his slight smile and your father keeps his poker face.

"Don't hurt my little girl," your dad finally speaks. He turns around and walks away, further down the hallway.

You turn to Max and hug him. It's now one of the those cliché movie scenes where the girl and the guy hug in the middle of the hospital.

It doesn't matter though because life can be cliché like that.
