You know those certain days that everyone has now and again? Those days when nothing goes right and you just want to scream? Yeah, you know exactly what I'm talking about. This is one of those days for you.
"(Y/N)..."
Although, you can't scream right now. You actually can't do anything. You're too busy being in a coma.
Remember falling out of your seat when the plane crashed? Don't stress if you can't; I wouldn't expect you to with that blow to the back of the head. It seemed pretty painful.
"I promised to protect you, (Y/N)... At our wedding and on the plane. But I failed... I'm so sorry... Please please please wake up..."
Let's see, how long have you been unconscious...? Hmm, I'd say about almost four weeks. Twenty-six days if you want to be precise.
"Max, you really should get some sleep."
"I can't, Adam. Not while she's still here. What if she wakes up in the middle of the night? Or maybe-"
"Max. Stop. You know what the doctor said. You can come stay at my house if you want, but please get some sleep. You've been awake for two days straight and you know what the chances of her waking are."
"Don't say that, Adam," the voice cracked. "Don't say things like that."
It's sad, isn't it? This cliché thing happening right now? Get married, go on the honeymoon, come back, and crash. Especially when you were about to land, too. Then the paramedics came.
There was only one reported death, but many injured people. Both you and Max happened to be a part of them. Your injuries were more severe than Max's, though, especially because of your broken seatbelt. Max had a broken wrist and a fractured leg. You on the other hand? Oh boy, where do I even begin? Well, first there was your head. You hit it pretty hard on something sharp. It didn't damage any brain tissue, but it was really close. Then there was your broken leg. And your fractured arm. And your broken ring finger (don't worry, it wasn't the left hand where your wedding ring was) and the huge amount of blood loss. But most importantly, there was your spine.
According to the doctor, it wasn't broken. Thank God or else you'd be paralyzed. No, but seriously, it was pretty bad. There was a small possibility you could have a herniated disc, but the only way to clearly know was a CAT scan. The only reason why the doctor wouldn't do it is because Max wouldn't let him.
"No, Adam! I'm not leaving! I'm staying here with (Y/N)!"
"Fine. I'll stay with you, then, you stubborn bastard."
"Just go home, Adam. You need to be with Mason and Alesa as much as I need to be here with (Y/N)."
"Max, no. I'm staying here with you."
Oh, yeah. Sorry. I forgot to mention. Why am I talking to you right now? Why am I filling you in on what happened? Most importantly, why am I breaking through the fourth wall?
The answer: I'm honestly just your subconscious. Just 'cause you can't talk doesn't mean you can't listen. But anyways, it's been rough. On you, Max, Adam, Alesa, everyone at the offices...
"Max, don't be like this. C'mon."
"I'm sorry. No matter what you say, I'm not leaving. But you are."
Perhaps I should just let you rest for now and return later with the next chapter?
Yeah. I think that's what I'll do...
