When I got to the hospital, I threw up. I don't know if it was morning sickness or if it was because everything that happened had caught up with me.
I got a quick check up. I was fine and so was the baby.
After everything was said and done, I waited in the waiting room for news on Spencer. It was now 3:00 and I was tired, but I couldn't sleep. Not yet.
The team quickly came in to the waiting area and went to talk to the woman behind the counter. I stood up.
"Guys." I said and waved to get their attention.
They quickly raced over to me.
"Mel!" Penelope said and quickly hugged me. I tried to keep back my tears.
"Are you okay?" Derek asked and hugged me as well.
"The doctors say I'm fine. So is the baby." I said.
David, Alex and JJ hugged me next. I came to Uncle Aaron, who was giving me a sad look.
"Have you heard anything?" he asked.
"Not yet. He's still in there." I said. "I'm scared Uncle Aaron."
He quickly hugged me. It wasn't like any of the other hugs. It was a family hug.
"You should've been there Uncle Aaron." I cried. "It was so scary."
"It's okay Mel. Chris was put in jail." he assured me.
"It's all gonna be okay Mel. Spence is gonna pull through this. He's going to be fine." JJ said, patting my back. I nodded and wiped away my tears.
A nurse came out with a clipboard. We all became alert.
"Spencer Reid?" she asked us. We nodded. "Which one of you is Melanie Reid?"
I stepped forward.
"I am." I said, my voice still shaky. "Is he okay nurse?"
She smiled at me, kindly.
"He's fine. He's requesting to see you."
I looked back at everyone. They gave me smiles that made me feel happy and warm inside.
"This way ma'am." the nurse told me and pointed to Spencer's room. I nodded and walked towards the room. I opened the door. Spencer lay looking up at the ceiling. When the door opened, he turned and looked at me.
"Mel!" he breathed.
"Spencer!" I said, quickly racing to hug him.
He grunted in pain. I quickly backed up and let him have his space.
"I'm sorry." I said. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm just so happy you're okay."
"It's fine." he said. "It hurt, but it was the good kind of pain. What about you? Are you okay? Is the baby okay?"
"Reiders, the baby is fine. You took most of the impact." I said. "It was a drunk driver. He tried to stop, but where it was rainy and he was, you know, drunk, his reaction time was slow. He was arrested though."
I sat at on the edge of the bed and held Spencer's hand.
"I thought I lost you." I said, tears falling down my cheeks. "It scared me."
Spencer sat up and winced as he did so. He wiped my tears away and looked me in the eye.
"Look at me Melanie. Don't cry, okay? I'm fine, see? Just dinged up a bit. I've been through worst, remember? I was kidnapped, tortured, drugged, shot. I've been through worst then a car accident." he said. "I was worried about you."
"But you were unconscious." I said, wiping away another tear.
"Even unconscious I was thinking of you. I dreamt of you." he said. "I dreamt you were hurt. When I woke up, I swore it was real."
"Luckily, I'm also fine." I said. "And so are you. My biggest fear was that little Sammy or Haley would have to grow up without a parent, like I did."
"The only difference," Spencer said. "is that you grew up without your mom. If you did lose me, our little child would've had ann amazing and strong mother who would've able to raise him or her by yourself." he took my hands. "And you would've moved on from me, okay?"
I felt the tears racing down my face again as I looked away from him.
"How am I supposed to live without you?" I asked.
Spencer wrapped me into a hug.
"Hopefully, you won't have to learn anytime soon." he whispered and kissed my head.
The door opened and Spencer and I pulled away. We turned to see a doctor walk in with a nurse. The nurse walked over to Spencer's IV while the doctor looked at the clipboard in his hand.
"Spencer Reid. You were in quite an accident, weren't you?" he said. "Hm, looking over your charts I'd say we're going to have to keep you for about a week then you can go home, but you are not aloud to go to work for another week."
"Two week vacation? Just what we need." I said and smiled at Spencer.
"You have some visitors out there. Shall I send them in?" the nurse asked.
"Yes please." Spencer said.
The nurse and the doctor left. Spencer lied back on the bed and I lied next to him, careful not to hurt him.
The team came in and looked down at Spencer. They gave him a smile, but didn't move to do aching else, which was fine with me. I was content with being snuggled up on his chest and felt no need to move.
"Hey there Pretty Boy. How are you feeling?" Derek asked.
"Sore." Spencer replied. Everyone chuckled. "I'm just glad that Mel and the baby are okay. I was worried about them."
"Funny. She was worried about you." JJ said.
"So, what's the scoop?" David asked. "When will you be out of here?"
"A week." I replied. "He's not back to work for two, though, and I'm taking time off with him."
I looked at Uncle Aaron and I could see him considering this. Of course he'd have to let Spencer be off. But, unless I had to be, he probably wouldn't let me.
"It's not gonna be the same without you." Alex said.
"Yeah. Who's gonna annoy us with random facts all day?" Derek said. Everyone laughed again.
"I'm sure I can text random things to Garcia daily and she can say it to you guys." I said. Penelope smiled and gave me a thumbs up.
"Great." Derek muttered. We all laughed again.
The team was soon told to leave. I snuggled up to Spencer. I listened to his heart beating as his chest rose up and down. Slowly, I drifted off to sleep.
