Months had passed and now I was 8 months pregnant. Uncle Aaron was now not letting me go away on cases, no matter how much I begged and pleaded.
I sat in my office one day, going through some paper work, when there was a knock on the door. I looked up to see none other than Emily Prentiss. I smiled at her.
"Hey you." I said. "I'm so glad you could come."
"I'm glad I got the call." she replied. I got up to give her a hug. "Wow. You really have grown haven't you?"
"You have no idea." I said. "And I never knew how heavy a baby was until now."
She laughed and said, "How long are you gonna be out for maternity leave?"
"I'm not." I replied. "I'm refusing maternity leave. This job needs me."
"Oh. I just thought-"
"I called you in because the team is down one person and they will be for another month or so. Instead of training a newbie, I thought it would be easier to call in someone who has trained."
She nodded. It was awkward for a moment but she spoke again.
"I'm glad to see you again." she said.
"I'm glad to see you, too. I really wanna get to know you better." I said.
"Same here."
"Prentiss?"
Emily and I turned to see Derek standing in the doorway, staring in awe at Emily. We chuckled.
"Close your mouth, Morgan, you're gonna swallow a fly." Emily said. She and I laughed as Derek cleared his throat and spoke again.
"Um, we have a case, but, uh, the team wants to explain something to you before we bring Reid in." he said. "Good to see you again, Emily."
"You, too, Derek." she said. "They have to explain something to you before Reid is in? Must be serious."
"Could be something about Tobias Hankle or something. I've already heard about that." I said. The two of us walked to the Conference Room. Out of the corner of my eye, I seen Spencer watch me as we walked past. I felt bad about whatever case we were about to do. Once I sat down, Uncle Aaron spoke.
"Has Reid ever told you about a Nathan?" he asked.
"No. Not that I remember, why?" I asked.
"Nathan was a teenage boy who stopped Reid at the train station years ago and asked him about serial killers who kill prostitutes." Derek started.
"We later found out that there was a serial killer killing prostitutes and cutting their hair. We believed the killer was Nathan." JJ continued. "He showed all the signs of one, but he didn't turn out to be one."
"Wait, this isn't going where I think it's going, is it?" asked Emily. "I remember that case. He cut himself. He didn't-"
Penelope clicked a button on her remote and audio began to play.
"911, what's your emergency?" asked a woman.
"I-I need help." said a shaky voice.
"What's wrong sir?"
"I need the FBI here now."
"That's a little extreme, sir. Please tell me what's wrong."
"I did it again."
"Did what again?"
"I-I killed another."
"Wait, sir. Did you say you killed someone?"
"That's why I need them here. I need the BAU. I need Dr. Spencer Reid. He's the only one that can help me."
"I'm sure we can talk this through sir-"
"No!" said the voice. It became strong, angry. I guessed this was Nathan. "You need to call the BAU! Dr. Spencer Reid is the only one who can help me!"
Call over. I looked around the room. Emily was in shock, just like me. The room was quiet when suddenly, there was a knock. We all turned to see Spencer standing at the door.
"What's going on?" he asked. We looked around at each other. "What are you guys hiding from me?"
"Spence, do you remember Nathan?" JJ asked. He nodded. Penelope played the audio again and Spencer looked as though he was going to faint.
"Reiders, you okay?" I asked.
"I knew this would happen." he whispered. "I knew he'd become one."
"You don't have to do this case, Reid." Uncle Aaron said.
"Yes I do. He wants to talk to me. I'll go help him, maybe get him on the right path again." he said. "I won't be gone long."
"Stop worrying about me." I said. "I'm not due for another two weeks."
He nodded and gave me a kiss. I could tell he was hesitant about this case, but he was determined to go and no one could talk him out of it.
