I sighed and sat down on the floor again. Phones always ruin perfect moments.
"Hello?" Spencer answered. He paused. His whole face changed. Concern rised in me as Soencer didn't talk for a few minutes.
"Reiders? Who is it?" I asked.
"My dad."

*Spencer's POV*
Why was my dad calling? It had been years. Why would he call now? Unless there was something wrong with mom. But, if something was wrong with mom, the facility would've called me, wouldn't they?
"Spencer? You still there?"
"Y-yeah. Dad, what are you doing calling me? You haven't talked to me in years. Is everything okay? Is mom okay?" I asked.
"Spencer, Spencer. Calm down. Everything's fine. Your mother is fine." he said. "Actually, I got a call from her the other day. I didn't know you got married, Spencer."
Of course you didn't. You haven't had any interest in your own son for years.
"Nearly a year ago." I said.
"Wow. I'm sorry I couldn't come."
No you're not.
"Anyways, your mother told me that you wrote her a letter. She said that your wife-what's her name? Maggie? Megan?"
"It's Melanie, dad." I snapped. He was testing my patients.
"Right. Melanie. Your mother told me that Melanie's pregnant. You're gonna be a father. That's great, Spencer." he said.
"Yeah, and I'll be a better father then you ever were."
"Spencer, we've been through this. I left because your mother-"
"Mom was unstable and you left me with her. You're lucky I love mom or else I would've been even more pissed then I was. Was a phone call or a letter or something too hard for you? You could've kept in contact!" I snapped.
There was silence. Mel looked at me with wide eyes. I've never lost my cool that bad before. I pinched the bridge of my nose, waiting for dad to speak.
"I wanna be a part of my grandchild's relationship." he said.
"You don't deserve it!" I snapped. Mel quickly took the phone from me.
"Mr. Reid? Hi, this is Melanie. Listen, we'll get back to you. Okay. Bye." she said and hung up. I sighed and sat down. I let my anger melt away before looking back up at Mel. "You okay now?"
"I'm sorry." I said, my voice soft. "I just...he gets to me."
"It's okay. If my mom called all of a sudden, I probably would've been the same way. Mainly because I'm pregnant and widely hormonal right now." she said. "What was he saying?"
"I wrote a letter to my mom telling her that you were pregnant and she told dad, so he wants to be a part of the baby's life." I explained. "He wants to be more involved in his grandchild's life then his own son's."
"Maybe he's trying to start over." Mel suggested. "You know, make up for what he missed."
"It's not good enough." I said. "He should've actually been there."
"I know, but please promise you'll think about this, okay?" Mel asked and sat on my lap. "Everyone deserves a second chance. I gave you one after our first fight during my first official case."
I chuckled and said, "I had a first chance before that?"
She shrugged.
"Everyone has a chance."
"Thanks deep." I said. Mel giggled and kissed my nose. "I guess I can think about it."
"That's all I'm asking."
