Epilogue

*Mel's POV*

Spencer raced through the hospital room doors. I smiled up at him.

"Hey you. How was the case? Did you catch Nathan?" I asked.

"Yeah. What about you? Are you okay?" he asked and quickly raced to the bed side. I turned to look at our little baby in the incubator.

"Why don't you ask Haley?" I said.

Spencer's eyes widened as he turned to see his baby girl, asleep in a blanket, not a care in the world at the moment.

He smiled and turned back to me.

"It's a girl?" he asked, but then answered his own question. "It's a girl." He looked from Haley to me twice. "Can I hold her?"

I nodded.

Spencer walked over to where Haley slept. He picked her up, careful not to wake her. He supported her head with one hand and held her tiny body with the other. I seen the tears well up in his eyes.

"She's beautiful." he whispered. "Like her mom."

I smiled wider and sat up a bit more as he walked over to look at my little girl. I'd always wanted a girl, now I had one.

As Spencer sat down on the bed next to me, Haley shifted and opened her big brown eyes. They looked like his. I smiled as the tears began to well up in my eyes.

Haley looked from me to Spencer, but didn't cry, almost as if she knew who we were.

"She's already a genius." I whispered, resting my head on his shoulder. He chuckled.

"Hi. Hi Haley. I'm your dad and this is your mom." he said. "We're gonna be gone a lot, but you're always gonna be on our minds. We love you."

"You're named after your great aunt." I continued. "She can't be here right now. But she's looking down over you all the time. She would have loved to meet you."

There was a knock on the door. We looked up to see the team. I smiled up at them.

"Hey you guys." I said. "Come in and meet Haley Emily Reid."

"Emily?" asked Emily who was standing at the back of the group. I looked up at her.

"After you." I said. "I thought the name would mean something to Spencer. And to me. I barley know you, but I feel like I really do."

Emily smiled and hugged me. She turned to look at Haley.

"She's beautiful, guys. She's got Spencer's eyes." she said.

The others came in to look at Haley. Haley looked at all of them, but she didn't cry, almost as if she knew they were her family, too.

"She is beautiful." said JJ. I turned and looked at Spencer. He looked at me with eager eyes. I nodded.

"JJ," he started. "Mel and I were wondering if you would be Haley's godmother."

JJ looked up at both of us, her eyes wide.

"Really?" she asked.

"Yeah. I mean, you're the reason I knew about Haley when I did." I said. "Plus, Spencer is Henry's godfather. We thought, why not return the favor?"

JJ smiled.

"So not fair." Penelope mumbled. I smiled at her.

"Sorry Hot Stuff."

She sighed.

"I guess I can forgive you Sweet Cheek."

"What about a godfather?" Rossi asked.

"Oh! That was my choice." I said. "I chose Derek Morgan."

Derek's hands came out of his pocket and his eyes also widened at his name. Spencer and I laughed at his expression.

"I-I'd love to be her godfather." he said. "Can I hold her?"

Spencer stood up and passed Haley to Derek. He held her carefully and securely to him. I watched from the bed with a smile on my face.

Haley reached her little hand up to hold Derek's finger. She then pulled her hand back. Derek chuckled.

"No, we're not the same. Not that way, anyways." he said. "It's not coming off, so get over it now. The girls like the chocolate."

We all laughed.

"Don't teach my daughter that already please." Spencer said.

The words "my daughter" coming out of his mouth sounded wonderful. They sounded right. Knowing that we now had our own made me happy. I loved Spencer even more right now.

Haley got passed around the room. She would make some sort of contact with everyone, whether it be putting her hand on their face or holding their finger. It was her way of making sure they were nice.

Once Alex had held her and passed her back, I looked down at my baby girl. She gave me a little smile and settled into my arms before falling asleep.

"Welcome to the world Haley Emily Reid." I said.
