After sailing non stop to where Killian last left Emma, he finally arrived at the same port he'd been at a little over a year ago. The worst day of his life, the day he let Emma Swan go. And for what? A woman who he knew deep down he did not love anymore.
Hook was now more determined than Ever to rectify his mistake. If Emma would let him, of course. She'd probably built up walls higher than a fort by now, and he couldn't Blame her. In fact, Killian blamed everything on himself, drowning in guilt, and rightly so.
He'd put Emma through so much, and she deserved so much more than him, yet he still couldn't bare to leave her for any longer. He had to try to get her back. Yes, he was being incredibly selfish, again, but he needed Emma, so he'd be the most selfish man in the world if it meant getting Emma back.
As soon as the ship was anchored securely, Killian sprinted towards the markets. If Emma was still here, then someone there would know about it.
He spent half a day asking everyone he could if they knew where he could find Emma Swan. Eventually his mission brought him to the local tavern. He did not get distracted with alcohol like he usually would at places like this, instead he marched straight up to the bar and and repeated the same question he'd been asking all day. "Do you know where I can find a woman named Emma Swan?"
Killian almost expected the same answer he'd received all day, which was, "Who?" Instead, it was music to his ears when the bartender replied with, "Yeah, but who's asking?" The bartender leaned his weight on his hands, which were rested on the bar.
"Killian Jones, better known as Captain Hook," Killian held up his left arm, which had a hook at the end of it, "Emma might have mentioned me?" He said hopefully.
The bartender narrowed his eyes in confusion, "No, afraid not," The man pushed himself upright again and began wiping the bar with a rag.
Killian sighed, "Well can you tell me where she is?"
The bartender sighed, "Yea, she'll be at her house at this time," and he gave Killian directions to Emma's house.
Killian thanked him and sped off in the direction he was told, eager to see Emma once again.
He reached her door in no time, and he held his hand up in a fist, ready to knock, but he hesitated. What if she didn't want to see him? He wouldn't blame her. What if she'd forgotten him and moved on? What if she hated him? No. He had to take a chance. Without any further thought, he knocked smoothly thrice on the door. He heard shuffling inside, then the door swung open, revealing Emma Swan in person.
It took a minute to sink in for the two of them, as they just stood there, staring at each other with a shocked expression, Emma holding onto the door still. Emma shook her head to break herself out of her astonishment. "W-what are you doing here?" Emma whispered, tears now welling up behind her eyes.
Killian cleared his throat awkwardly, "Well, my love-" Emma cut him off sharply, "Don't. Don't call me that. You lost that right the minute you lied to me." She stated in a sharp tone. Killian lowered his head in defeat and shame.
"You're right, lo- Emma. I'm sorry, it's just an old habit of mine." Killian said, scratching behind his ear. Emma had to stop herself from smiling at his nervous habit she'd noticed when she was first getting to know him. All of that seemed a lifetime ago now.
Emma took in a breath, "You didn't answer my question." Emma reminded him.
"Right, yes. That. The truth is, Emma, that I can't stand another second without you. I just had to see you, I was going insane." Killian explained to Emma. She read him like an open book, and realised this time he wasn't lying. That didn't make things right though.
Emma folded her arms, "Is that so? And you thought you could just waltz back into my life after a year of gallivanting with Milah, doing god knows what, and pretend like nothing happened? If you think it's going to be that easy, then-" he cut her off sharply.
"I never expected it to be easy. In fact, I don't deserve you at all, after all I've put you through. But a man unwilling to fight for what he wants, deserves what he gets. And I am willing to fight as hard as I can for you. And if, by the time I have tried my absolute hardest to win you back, you still don't want me, I will completely understand. I will leave, and never return, you'll never have to see me again. I did this to myself, I deserve every ounce of pain that comes with it." Emma was slightly taken aback by Killian's declaration. She expected him to believe she would forgive him straight away. She could never be won over that easy, no matter how much she'd love to get lost in his eyes, in his touch, once more. She'd been hurt far too much to let it be easy for him.
Killian was a little worried by her silence and her expression of...was that worry? Shock? He didn't know. "Look, I'm going to come back here every day at this time exactly. You don't even have to let me in, I'm just going to sit here and talk to you until the sun has set. Is that okay?" Emma silently nodded, she didn't know what his plan was going to achieve, but it couldn't hurt to let him try. Emma knew he would back off if she wished, so why not let him. "Okay, you've got two weeks." Emma stated firmly, "Now I have to get to work, so if you'd excuse me I have to get ready."
"As you wish, milady." Killian gave her a bow, an turned to leave. as he was walking away, he shouted to her, "Until tomorrow, my love." Emma narrowed her eyes, he called her that on purpose to annoy her. She could guarantee he had a smirk plastered to those perfect lips of his. Emma shook her head and went inside to get ready before her shift.
Killian went back to his ship, a smile gracing his lips for the first time in a while. He was contented that he had the one thing he'd lived without for the past year. Hope. Hope that he could be happy again, with Emma. And that was all he needed.
