a/n OMG it's been so long since I updated this, but I've had literally no inspiration to write. I know where I'm going with this, I've had the ending planned out for ages, but I struggled with putting this chapter into words. I really hope you haven't given up on this story. If you've forgotten what's happened, then here's a quick summary of the last few chapters:
Hook and Emma arrived in Neverland in order to save Milah, as it turns out that Rumple didn't actually kill her, just took her as his prisoner on neverland for hundreds of years. Hook found out and felt it was his duty to save her. He never had the courage to tell Emma the truth about his and Milah's relationship for fear of her leaving him, so Emma currently thinks Milah is Hook's close friend. Hook retrieved magic beans in order to get there and back again. The crew reached Neverland and began searching for Milah. They encountered Nereids, Pan and had to find their way out of the Dark Hollow. They are now at the entrance to the cave in which Milah is being kept.

They approached the entrance to the vast cavern, the crew were faced with the lost boys. Pan was at the front of them all, one eyebrow raised and a slight smirk on his face arrogantly. "I guess you've come to get her then? It's about time you arrived."Hook took a defensive stance and angled his body so that he was in front of Emma. He didn't know what Pan's next move was, so his top priority was ensuring Emma's safety. "Did you think I'd turn down an adventure such as this? Never!" Hook said, raising his sword and grinning.
"Now, if you could just let us past so we can get her, you'd be doing us a big favour." Hook said, almost as if he was talking to a child.
"Tsk Tsk, I thought you knew me better than to think I'd make it that easy. I'm going to make you fight for what you want." Pan explained, giving a discreet nod to the lost boys to draw their swords, so they did.
"As you wish." Hook said mockingly as he and his men began advancing on the boys.
Soon, the sounds of metal on metal filled the air, almost drowning out the shouts from either side. Almost. Emma could hear everything, the cries of the wounded, the cheers of the victorious. The battle raged on before her eyes, almost in slow motion, it seemed. Guilt hit her like a tonne of bricks as she saw many young boys injured.
Emma looked over to Hook and saw him clashing swords with a boy, no older than 10. She was snapped out of her daze when, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a boy advancing on her. She spun around and just as the boy swung his sword at her side, she blocked the hit with her own sword. They both drew back immediately and sent their swords swinging furiously at one another, all guilt gone from Emma's mind. All she was focused on was surviving.
Emma narrowly missed another slash from the boy, this time towards her neck. What startled Emma the most was when she looked into the boy's eyes, she did not see what she expected. She saw desperation and helplessness, and a hint of brokenness. She knew what this looked like because she saw it every day in Hook's eyes. The years of torment took its toll on one's spirit, and can break even the strongest of men. One of these was Killian Jones. What Emma didn't know is that she was the one helping Killian to piece himself together once more. She was the only one who had ever managed to fix the unfixable.
Emma swung her sword at the boy's side, slicing him. He cried out in pain and fell to the floor. Emma stared, horrified at what she'd done, the battle raging on around her.
Emma looked away and saw Pan stood off to one side, still smirking, arms crossed, staring right at her. He sauntered over to her, "Having fun?" Pan asked, giggling slightly.
Emma didn't answer, she just glanced over to Hook, seeing him caught up in hand to hand combat with a teenage boy. She aimed her sword at Pan threateningly. "Let Milah go." She demanded.
"Aww you're no fun." He fake pouted, "I don't like to let things go that easily." He took out his own sword and swung it at Emma. They engaged in a furious duel, swords clashing violently and every other battle around the two stopped as both sides anticipated the outcome of this fight.
Hook lurched forward to try and intervene or help Emma in some way, but his arms were caught by a few strong boys. "Pan doesn't want any interference," One of the Boys told Hook. He still struggled against them, and it took five boys to keep him back. "Bloody hell, let me go!" Hook shouted.
Eventually, Emma sliced Pan's arm, making him drop his sword. She took this opportunity to grab Pan and hold him against her, a sword pointed at his throat. "Let them pass," Emma said with authority. "Alright, you got me," Pan held his hands up in defense, "Let them get Milah. But I warn you, Emma, this won't turn out how you want."
"Shut up." Emma said simply.
Emma, still with Pan at knife point, walked towards the cave entrance behind Hook.
At the back of the cave, there was a small cage made of what looked like bamboo wood, and inside there was a woman with dark hair who was sleeping. Hook ran towards the cage and Emma stood to one side.
"Milah. Milah wake up." Hook said, and she began to stir as he unlocked the cage.
"Killian?!" Milah said, utterly shocked. "Yes, it's me." He smiled as the door swung open. Milah jumped into Hook's arms and kissed him as if her life depended on it.
Without thinking, Hook participated in the kiss, momentarily lost in the nostalgia of seeing Milah again.
As Emma witnessed this, she felt her heart shattering in her chest. She dropped the sword and it hit the floor with a loud clatter, breaking Hook from the moment. Pan smirked proudly, his plan had worked. Hook's jaw dropped as he realised what he just did.
Hook heard a muffled sob and as he looked around, all he saw was a flash of blonde leaving the cave.
