- Nagisa's POV -
"Papa! Don't leave me here!!"
"Be quiet Nagisa! Your mother's gonna wake up if you don't quiet down a notch!"
"Don't leave me with her!"
"I'm so sorry, Nagisa. But I guess I wasn't ready for a wife who would do something so horrible to her own son. You deserve better, so let me leave and not distract you."
"P-Papa?"
"Good-bye. Nagisa, my son."
"Papa!!"
__________
I was flailing my arms and crying until Karma woke me up. He had put his hands over my shoulder and had shaken me until I let my eyelids fly open.
"Nagisa! Are you okay?!?" He asked me painfully. He was really worried since I never really bashed out in front of him. Or anyone really.
I nodded my head. "Sorry I freaked you out. I-I had a nightmare is all." I looked at the clock, and it was now 11 in the night. "Did I startle you?"
"Ya' think? But, what was the dream about? Maybe talking about it will help you," he sat up to grab a glass of milk while I sat up to wait for him. I felt my head, and I was heating up bad. Almost inhuman-like.
"Crap."
"Did you say something, Nagisa?" He asked while putting the glass cup on on a table.
"No, but my nightmare was a dream about my dad. When he left us, a long, long time ago," I replied while breathing heavily. I was sweating as well.
Karma pulled me down on the bed with him, but we still sat across from each other. "If it's just bad memories clouding your head, don't worry. You have many great friends to make up for your dad. I may not be among those people, but I do know that those people exist." He faced me with his soft ombre eyes as I met them with my ocean blue ones.
"Y-Yeah."
And with that, we fell asleep once more. My dreams kept changing from nice to complete terror, but I couldn't help it. Not sure what Karma was thinking about though.
__________
It seems like our roles were reversed by the gods themselves. My senses woke me up when Karma was suddenly screaming. I flinched at the sudden aching around my body, but I still cared for the redhead next to me. Actually, he wasn't anymore. It was 4:56 and he was standing near the wall with his phone on the floor, his hands clasping his head.
"K-Karma!" I immediately jumped from the bed and unclasped his hands. He stopped screaming, but he had tears in his eyes and was breathing just as hard as I was.
"No... they're fricking lying to me!" He clenched his teeth and punched the floor, putting a dent in the carpet before crying into his knees.
He was staring at his phone so I picked it up to see what was the matter. As far as I know, there wasn't anything in this world that could make Karma Akabane break down like this. Not even when I declared that I hated him and didn't want to be his friend anymore.
I swallowed my hesitation while flipping his phone over to view, a text message? It was from an unknown number..... telling Karma, that the plane his parents were on for a trip....
It crashed. With no signs of any survivors. A picture was provided that showed the ocean containing a wrecked airplane that was smoking. A fire was seen behind the engine that was also exposed. There was no way Karma's parents could've survived such a catastrophe such as this.
My hand covered my mouth to keep my mouth from gasping, but that failed miserably.
"No way....." that was all I could say. With a slow turn, I faced Karma who had calmed down a little, but was still clearly distressed with the sudden news. His breathing turned steady and his eyelids grew heavy, but his tears didn't stop falling onto his uniform that he hadn't changed out of.
He looked at me as I flinched, having no idea how to comfort him or even react properly. I didn't know whether to cry or hug him or, I don't know I don't know!
"N-Nagisa!" He beamed while wrapping his arms around me. His heartbeat was so rapid, I was afraid he'd faint at any given moment. His breathing was beginning to quicken again, and his sniffles were louder since his head was close to my ears. A delayed reaction was at my doorstep.
"Karma?" I guess I embraced him too since my arms now have a mind of its own apparently. "Are you gonna be okay?" My voice was getting a little forceful. My eyes widened, but no tears were shed. My body was now getting really warm the longer Karma stayed put net to me.
"Don't leave me. Don't let me be alone now," he whispered while his grip became a little tighter. It was a bit hard to breathe, but I ignored that fact.
I nodded my head. "Y-Yeah. I won't, leave you. Yeah, you're alright." My voice was now in a monotone level, almost like I didn't care when I clearly did.
He started petting my soft blue hair as he dug his face onto my neck for support. I heard and felt him gasp as he pulled away from me, his hands on my shoulders. "Nagisa! You're burning up for some reason!" He yelled in shock.
"Wha?" He put a hand to my forehead and pulled away again. "Is it that ba... bad?" I mumbled, but I started feeling extremely dizzy as everything became a blur of color. My eyelids dropped halfway as I stayed awake. "It, h-hurts. Badly," I barely huffed the words out. I still collapsed in his chest, even though his hand was supporting me.
Karma held onto me as his free hand dialed 911. I didn't hear the call between him and whoever was on the other side of the phone, because I had passed out in Karma's comforting hands.
__________
I hope you guys noticed the extra adjectives in here. I had to lengthen the story quite a bit to reach a thousand word counted. Granted, that's not the most important thing about the chapter. So now Karma has two things to freak out over. His parents dying, and Nagisa fainting. Spoiler alert!!! He doesn't die..... this early. And yes, Karma's parents are gone. Never returning! Okay thanks, bye bye! (Yesterday, heehee!)
