- Nagisa's POV -
My eyes slowly flashed open to see just that. A flash. Kayano had snapped a photo of me and probably already set it as her lock screen or something just as humiliating.
I couldn't hear what she had said to Karma since my hearing was a bit off after waking up. Their voices were muffled and I was a little scared at that fact. I don't know why, but I decided to pretend I was still asleep.
"Ya' know what, I think I can just email you the picture when Nagisa's released."
"Awwwww, but he looks so cute in it! I couldn't possibly wait that long. If only his immune system was a little better."
"So, was he just sick?"
"I don't know, he just fainted in my arms and was burning up badly. It was like he just came back from a trip to the microwave or something."
"Oh, okay. As long as he's not hurt I'll be fine with the info. I think I better get going."
"Hm, see ya' later Kaede!"
The door slammed shut as a green-haired friend of mines left the room. The only people in here were now me, and Karma Akabane. He turned to face me.
"Nagisa, you can stop pretending now."
I sat up as my head started aching a little. "H-How'd you notice? Hehe..." I stuttered while cradling my head with my hand.
Karma cocked his head at me. "Are you hurt, Nagisa? You feeling okay?" He felt my forehead and sighed. "Well, you're not burning up, that's a relief."
I looked at his wrist and felt an uneasy feeling. He was, acting quite calm for someone who just figured out their parents just passed.
"Uh, K-Karma?" I asked while averting his gaze. "I'm really sorry for the way I've been treating you. I didn't know you'd go through so much change so fast. I'm really sorry."
He moved his hand from my forehead to the top of my head. This time, I looked in his eyes.
"It's fine, it's fine. Don't beat yourself up about it," he started to move his hand side to side so he'd tangle my aquatic blue hair a little. Karma then took the elastics off my wrists and started to put my hair back into pigtails, but slightly off balanced due to the fact that Kayano had tied them up in a specific way.
"Aren't you at least a little concerned about what happened with your parents?" I mumbled while putting my legs underneath the sheets.
"Yeah, it's a bummer for sure. But there's too many other people who's been through and is going through worse than me. Right now, I'm just glad you're not sick," he hugged me and patted my hair again. "Besides, maybe you've gone through worse than I have."
Those words struck me like knives. It was almost like he knew what happened at home, when mom wasn't gone like she is now.
"How'd you know?" I asked, not giving it a second thought. I quickly realized my mistake when he looked at me questioningly.
"Wait, what'd you just say?" He pulled me back with his cold hands on my arms instead of around me. "Is, something happening to you? Should I know about it?"
I put up my hands defensively and took down the pigtails he just made. "N-No. I guess I'm just saying random words now. Hehe...." My hand moved to the back of my head as I nervously laughed at my previous comment.
In a flash, he grabbed my face with his hands and got closer to me than ever before. Our eyes were inches apart while our noses were touching, and I can feel his heavy breathing on my nervous lips. His cold hands weren't affecting my now burning up face.
