Chapter 37

I woke up to the sound of thunder, I looked to the window and saw lightning. Storms never usually bothered me but something was different.
I was scared.
I saw hail the size of golf balls falling into the deck, it was really windy and some were hitting the door.
I felt myself shake, I started to cry.
I brought my knees up to my chest and tried to hush my cries.
"Babe?" Brendon said, waking from his sleep.
When he saw I was upset he immediately pulled me into his arms.
"Babe, calm down its okay. I'm here. You're fine."
I snuggled my head into his neck and cried.
He moved his hands slowly down my back, and kissed my cheek.
Maddie started crying from her room, yelling for us.
Brendon left to get her and i tried to calm myself down. He came back, asking her to stay in the hall.
"Are you okay now?"
He said caressing my cheek. I looked down, afraid to look at him.
"Meghan, I promise you everything is gonna be fine."
He walked back out to the hall.
"Ok Maddie, let's go to your room."
I felt stupid. It was just a storm, but something was different.
"Okay, she's asleep now." He said pulling back the covers and crawling in.
"Babe? What's wrong? It's over, just rain."
I didn't look up.
I couldn't.
"Babe?" A hint of concern in his voice.
"I'm sorry."
I forced myself to move, I crawled onto his lap.
"I'm sorry" I repeated.
"What's going on?"
I didn't know myself.
He pulled me close, and held me.
"It's okay. I'm here."
"Brendon. I love you so much."
We cuddled and it was the best moment.
-------------------NEXT DAY-------------------
I got up at 5:30, the usual time, and went downstairs. I made Maddie's breakfast and took a shower. When I got out Brendon was sitting with Maddie at the table.
"Good morning!" I said grabbing my coffee.
"Momma!"
"Morning babe."
Once Maddie was dressed and ready I went to get ready. I put some foundation in and threw a pair of shorts on with a Fall Out Boy shirt.
Brendon was dressed in his usual- black jeans and a tee.
"You guys ready?"
They nodded and we made our way to the car.
Once we for to the school Brendon and I both went in.
I took her things to her cubby and talked with her teacher.
Brendon was saying his goodbyes.
"Have a good day pumpkin! Daddy loves you."
(🙃 I feel weird saying that bc the youth of America has ruined 'daddy' for me.)
I made my over and hugged her.
"Have a good day! Love you."
We made our way to the car, Brendon with a sad look.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know how you do it everyday. It's hard to let her go, I love her." (😉)
"It's easier now than the first time."
We got in the car and decided to take the long way home.
"Can we have the wedding soon?"
I asked, giving him the puppy dog eyes.
He looked away from the road for just a second to smile at me.
"Anything you want babe."
Everything seemed so perfect, I looked out the the window, the sun was bright.
And then it all changed, in an instant.
