Everything went dark.
I heard sirens in the distance.
"Babe?" I heard Brendon, barely able to breathe.
"Yes, I'm here." I was crying, mostly scared to lose him.
But then I remembered.
I'm pregnant.
I blacked out and didn't wake up for sometime later.
"Where's Brendon?!" I said as I opened my eyes.
Jaydon was standing at the foot of my bed holding Maddie.
"Shh. He's fine. How are you feeling?"
Maddie reached for me.
Jaydon sat in the edge of the bed so Maddie could see me.
The doctor came in.
"You were very lucky, you only have a few scrapes and bruises."
I nodded and eagerly asked about Brendon.
I could tell he didn't want to tell me.
"He's in critical condition, he's in a coma."
I felt my heart break into a million pieces.
"No...please tell me your joking."
"I wish I was but I need to ask you a few questions."
"Did you know you were 2 months pregnant?"
Jaydon looked at me, concern in his eyes.
"Yes, I did."
"We are still detecting a heartbeat, but you need to relax."
I felt a wave of relief over me.
"When can I go see him?"
"Now isn't the best time, you need to relax."
"It's her fiancé, you can't keep her out."
Jaydon said defending me.
"Okay, get yourself dressed and we will let you go."
I changed and went to his room.
"I want to be alone with him please."
They nodded and left me.
I pulled up a chair and sat beside him.
His face was pale, the color almost gone from his perfectly pink lips.
I took his hand in mine, it felt lifeless.
"Bren? I don't know what's going on but I'm here. I was going to tell you tonight but I'm pregnant." I heard Maddie start yelling for me.
"Maddie's getting upset so I better go. I love you so much. I will see you later. Hang in there baby."
I left and took Maddie.
"I wanna go home."
Jaydon nodded and took me back to the house.
I took Maddie to bed and sat down on our bed.
----------------------------------------------
The next couple of weeks were the same I would drop Maddie off at Jaydon's and go spend the day with Brendon.
This went on for 6 months.
Until one day everything changed.
I got up like it was a normal day.
I changed into a pair of jeans and a black tank top, throwing my hair into a bun.
I got Maddie up and made her breakfast.
I sat down and watched Maddie eat, neglecting eating myself.
"Okay, you wanna go see uncle Jay?"
I asked her as I put her coat on her.
"When can I see daddy?"
I shrugged.
"Soon, I promise."
I just hope it's not at his funeral.
I dropped her off at Jaydon's and when I got back to the car my phone starting ringing.
It was the hospital.
"Hello?"
"Meghan?"
I paused.
"We need you to come to the hospital, we advise you bring your daughter."
I felt the tears form in my eyes.
I hung up and went back inside.
The worst outcome in my mind.
