A few weeks went by, and it was almost time for Sophie's Foxfire graduation. Their graduating class had to plan a huge show of everyone's talents, and everyone was stressed. To get everyone's mind off of everything, Alden and Della were hosting a bonfire at Everglen. Sophie, along with Dex, Keefe, Linh, Tam, Marella, and Jensi, was invited to go.
Sophie pulled on her favorite red tunic over black leggings and ran up to the Leapmaster. Biana would kill her if she was late.
As expected, Biana was waiting for her at the gates.
"Finally! You're the last one here." Biana said.
"Sorry, Grady made me help give Verdi a bath. It took forever." Sophie apologized.
"Ok, whatever. Come on!" Biana grabbed Sophie's wrist and dragged her to the backyard, where everyone was standing around a huge glimmering bonfire, laughing and talking and eating.
Sophie could see Dex and Linh shyly talking. Sophie didn't know if anything had happened between them yet, but she hoped something would soon. They were an unlikely but wonderful couple.
Biana went over to where Keefe was, leaving Sophie alone. She scanned the area for Fitz, finally spotting him standing alone.
Fitz's eyes met hers, and he smiled. Sophie started to walk over.
"Hey," she said.
"Hi. You look beautiful." Fitz said.
"Oh, thank you." Sophie looked down at her outfit. It had seemed kind of plain to her, but she was glad Fitz liked it.
"So..." Sophie started, trying to make conversation.
"So... How are you?" Fitz said.
"I'm good. Just a little stressed about graduation." Sophie said.
Fitz laughed. "I get it. I remember when me and Keefe went through ours. It doesn't seem like that long ago, even though two years has passed."
Sophie nodded. "Honestly, it feels like these past six years have flown by. I remember being new to the Elvin world, and now I'm graduating Foxfire in just a week."
Fitz nodded. Sophie looked around, seeing Biana, Alden, and Della, glancing over at the couple.
"Oh, and I, uh, have somewhere I want to take you. Is that okay?" Fitz asked.
"Yeah. Where is it?" Sophie asked.
"You'll see." Fitz smiled and took out his crystal.

"The four seasons tree!" Sophie gasped in amazement.
"Yeah. When you were talking about how fast time has gone by, I started thinking about here. It's so full of memories." Fitz said.
"After all, it is where you saved me." Both elves smiled.
Sophie looked at the tree again, lost in thought. Fitz bent down to adjust his shoe lace, and looked back up at Sophie.
"Wait... What are you doing?" Sophie gasped, as Fitz pulled out a ring.
"Sophie Foster. Six years ago, when I found you in that museum, I knew you were special. More importantly, I knew that I wanted to be with you. It wasn't until we got out matchmaking scrolls that we actually started to acknowledge our feelings for each other. Even though it took so long, I want you to know they were always there. You're the one I want to be with for the rest of my life, and I love you. Sophie, will you marry me?" Fitz looked up at Sophie hopefully, his teal eyes sparkling with the setting sun.
Sophie took a breath. Fitz Vacker was proposing to her, at the four seasons tree where he had saved her.
"Yes." Sophie breathed.
Fitz's smile was enormous as he slid the ring on to her finger, stood up, and hugged her tightly. Sophie hugged him back as she tried to process what had happened. She was engaged to Fitz Vacker. Wow. Sophie had been dreaming of this for years, and it had finally happened.
Sophie looked down at her ring. It was silver, and was weaved into a Celtic design. There was a small teal jewel set into the center of the ring.
"Fitz, this ring is gorgeous!" Sophie exclaimed.
"Thanks. As soon as I looked at it I knew you'd love it." Fitz said.
Sophie blushed. "Well, you definitely got that right."
Fitz laughed. "Wow. I can't believe you said yes. I thought you'd think we were going too fast and you'd say no." He confessed.
"Fitz, I'd never say no to marrying you. Like you said, I think the only thing that took too long was us acknowledging our feelings for each other." Sophie smiled.
Fitz put an arm around her waist. "Do you want to go back to the party, or stay here for a little bit?"
"I think I'd like to stay here." Sophie smiled.
"Okay, then." Fitz then pulled Sophie in for a kiss.
