Memories.
~~~~~Your smile looks blissful, as sun beamed down on to your (h/c) hair, making it somewhat glow.
The smell of riverbank spring onions hit you like a shovel in the face; Hard and sharp.
This smell would always remind you of your distant childhood.
The countless hours spent in the woodies, playing amongst the trees, splashing in and out of the river.
The smell of riverbank onions surrounded you and suddenly all you could think about was running along the pathway between the trees.
Racing your two best friends, this is what it was like to be a child before the war.
Playing ball in the street or running around in the forest.
"Y/N! Darling! Its dinner time!" Your mother yelled lovingly at the edge of the woodies, her long black hair glistening against the suns rays.
"Coming mama!" You shouted back before turning to your best friends.
"Same time tomorrow?" You asked, the excitement in your eyes evident.
"Sure!" They both chimed "Bye Y/N!"
"Bye Steve! Bye Buck!" You shouted over your shoulder as you ran into your mothers arms, embraced by her flower perfume and her warm arms.
The smell of riverbank onions left behind you as your mum held your hand, walking home with you.
"Y/N? You okay?" Clint asked.
You looked around trying to find him before spotting him perched in a tree just above you.
"Yeah, just thinking." You smiled politely before looking back towards your bouquet of yellow and blue flowers. Her favourite.
"You need to focus." Tony said sarcastically, knowing he had beaten Natasha to it, she instantly rolled her eyes.
"I've done this countless times," you say firmly before looking at the grave in front of you.
"She was your mother Y/N," Clint says before casually jumping down from his branch.
"She's been dead for years." You snap bluntly.
"You've never said goodbye to her." Steve spoke softly as he wrapped his arm around your shoulders.
Steve loved your mum, after his mum had pasted, your mum would take him food, clean cloths and let him stay over when he was feeling lonely. She soon classed him as her own.
Steve swollowed hard, not wanting to break in front of you.
"I can't..." You looked down at the flowers in your hand and smelled them. The scent reminded you of your mother's perfume, strong, warm and flowery.
"Of course you can doll." Bucky said from the other side of your mothers head stone.
"She thinks I died.... She thought I died." You slowly correct yourself.
You remember the day HYDRA catched you clear as day.
The way your screams for Steve and Bucky bounced of the cold unpainted walls.
The way the cryo freeze burned your skin.
"Hey, let's give them some time yeah?" Bruce's voice came out deep, it wasn't a suggestion it was an order and everyone knew it.
Bruce placed a soft kiss on your left temple and patted Steve and Bucky on the back before leaving.
"I never thought I would live to see this." Bucky muttered lowly, so low that you and Steve could only just hear it.
"I know Buck." Steve echoed Bucky's thoughts.
Of course they loved your mum, the unforgettable sleep overs, when she made jello and freshly baked cookies and she would stay up late with you to listen to the comedy show on the radio. She was only young when she had you at age 17. But she didn't care, and as far as your mother was concerned all she needed was you and sometimes your boy best friends.
Steve and Bucky would buy her chocolates, flowers, the daily paper and they even used to nip to the shop for her.
You always thought they were up her arse so they would be allowed to hang around with you but of course you where wrong.
"I should of been there..." You mumble as you crouch down in front of the grave.
"You didn't know HYDRA was going to be there Y/N, you were In cryo. There was nothing you could of done." Steve tried to reasure you but honestly it made you feel worse.
"Can you give me a minute?" You asked Steve and Bucky, your bottom lip almost quivering.
"Sure thing doll," Bucky smiled widely before kissing his human fingers and placing them on the head stone.
Steve gave a lopsided smile and laid down his and Bucky's flowers, he rubbed your arm gently before disappearing with the rest of your team mates.
You looked around quickly to see if anyone was looking, you laid beside the once dug up plot of land and ran your hand over the bright green grass.
"I love you mama." You whisper.
"Hello baby girl." Your mums voice quietly boomed beside you.
You jumped to your feet in seconds and came face to face with your half metal mother, the smell of her perfume consuming you.
