They were fighting again and she didn't know why

They wouldn't tell her

She asked Calvin once, but he just shook his head, and walked away

She wanted to know, because whatever it was, it was eating her brother up inside

It was making him argue with their mother

But the only word that kept resurfacing every time, they fought was "gay"

She wondered what that meant

She didn't know

Because children aren't born knowing what that word means

Nor are they born knowing to hate people who are
