Dawn, Phoenix, and Sapphire woke up in the large tree that Dawn made, their backs were sore but they slept alright.
They weren't sure what to do at this point - they wanted to go search for the final child, but they knew that if they were to go into town by themselves, people passing by would start to get suspicious.
Because of this, they decided to just hang out in the tree with each other, at least, for the time being.
"Do you guys know what your secondary powers are?" asked Phoenix.
Sapphire, who was quite clueless in the world of powers, shook her head, her eyes widened in surprise.
Dawn shook her head also.
Phoenix stood up and stretched, "I was about 10 when I figured out that I had powers. In that time, I realized that whoever has these element powers, also has a secondary power."
Dawn interrupted him, "How could that be? Maybe it's only you that has a secondary power. Plus, what even is your secondary power?"
Phoenix scowled a bit, "I was getting to that. Just watch."
Phoenix stood near the edge of the branch that they were on, turned his head to see if the girls were watching, and then jumped off.
Sapphire gasped and scurried to look where Phoenix had gone but saw nothing.
She laid down on the branch, worried about where he went as Dawn had her arms crossed, trying to figure out what the boy had up his sleeve.
Suddenly, she felt the tree move - Sapphire looked up and saw Phoenix had appeared right next to Dawn, with a pear in his hand.
"You can teleport?" Sapphire asked, amazed how there was nothing wrong with Phoenix.
Phoenix smirked as he nodded his head, handing the pear to her
"Hey, where's mine?" Dawn asked, punching the side of his arm.
"Uh...well you see, I did get you something but I might have eaten it before I could give it to you," Phoenix smiled.
"Yeah, right." Dawn rolled her eyes.
"We can find you something later. Now, in the meantime, we ought to try to find out your secondary powers." Phoenix asked.
"Well, how exactly are we going to figure out what our powers are? Like where do you even start with that sort of thing?" Sapphire asked, taking a bite of the pear Phoenix gave her.
"Well you see, I figured out mine just by exploring. Maybe we should just experiment to figure it out." Phoenix suggested.
"Yours is a pretty typical power - teleportation. Wouldn't ours be the same amount of typical?" Dawn questioned.
"So, you're saying that if we could just think of a superpower we've seen in media, then there's a chance we could figure it out?" Sapphire asked.
"Exactly. I'll let you take it away, fire boy." Dawn looked towards Phoenix.
Phoenix paused to think before speaking, "I am going to say a sentence in my head, and you have to repeat what it was." Phoenix said, "We'll do this for 4 rounds."
Sapphire and Dawn sat down, facing Phoenix.
"Alrighty, let's begin," said Phoenix.
Almost instantaneously, Dawn replied, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dwarf."
Phoenix's eyes widened. "That's correct," he said.
"Butterflies are the epitome of insects."
"The Titanic was considered 'unsinkable.'"
"Okay, one more round. So far it is Dawn in the lead with 3 and Sapphire left in the dust with 0." Phoenix said, "Instead of me saying the line, Sapphire will portray the role."
Sapphire quickly thought of a sentence and stared at Dawn. "...I like eating bell peppers and cream cheese?" Dawn said.
Sapphire was surprised, but also a tad bit embarrassed, "Y-Yeah.."
Dawn smiled, "Does this mean I can read minds?"
Phoenix shrugged, "I guess so, congratulations."
"Well, judging by how we got Dawn's power on the first try, we'll get yours shortly," Phoenix explained.
"Could it be possible that I don't have an extra power?" Sapphire asked.
"Don't beat yourself up so much. We'll figure out what it is." Phoenix reassured her putting his arm on her shoulder."
"Thanks, but I doubt that we'll - AH!" Sapphire was cut off.
She had lost her balance and fell off of the branch. She screamed, and then it was silent.
She saw everything was frozen. There was a scared expression on Phoenix's face, a surprised expression on Dawn's face, and Sapphire realized that she was falling in mid-air.
She got up from her position and floated upward. She was shocked how she was basically flying through the air, as her friends were paused.
She floated back towards a branch on the other side of the tree.
She blinked twice, and she heard the screams of Phoenix and Dawn.
Phoenix and Dawn searched around in fear, not knowing what really happened.
"What?!" Dawn shouted when she saw Sapphire just chilling in a branch nearby. Sapphire smiled,
"Hell yeah, I'm awesome." she thought to herself.
