A few weeks later

Just like Ryan said, each guild that joined us bought in a few smaller guilds. The ravagers brought the rest of the bandit guilds. The circle of Shadow got some assassin and mage guilds to join. MetalBane was a prestigious warrior guild, so a lot of warrior guilds joined us.
The Yvttkqtu acted as a morale booster and any guilds that doubted us were convinced when they joined us. The combined might of our army was incredible. Ken and some of the strategist from the other guilds worked day and night to try and come up with the best way to carry out the assault. When they had finally agreed on a choice they called all the leaders in.

The plan was simple. The combined army of The Legion, MetalBane, and Circle of Shadow, and their smaller counterparts would lead a direct assault. It would start with a hail of arrows to draw the darkness in. The second attack the attack based mages would use their magic to rain destruction down on the charging darkness. The summoning mages would summon what they had and the first attack wave would be of summoned attackers. When the summoned attackers were finished we'd enter battle directly.

The ravagers and their bandit guilds would sweep in from the side in a sort of surprise attack when they were signaled. The Yvttkqtu, who insisted to lead only themselves, would be charging in first, bypassing the combined army and weakening the darkness down. After they were in battle the combined army would charge forward and the ravages would stay on standby, ready when ever we needed them.
Ken spoke up to add in the final part of the plan, "to avoid as much death as possible, Kane will lead a small infantry type unit to bypass the fighting and infiltrate the fortress. He carries the key, so he needs to get inside. Hopefully he can shut down the game before anyone dies."

Everyone was silent.

Ken looked around, "any objections?"

No one spoke up.

Ken looked at me, "you should pick who will serve as your infantry team. I'm staying with the combined army so I can't go".

Ryan walked over to me, "I'm going with you. I'll be your shield."

"Thanks.."

Everyone kind of dispersed and Ryan asked me to follow him. He walked into an empty room, "I'm waiting for someone"

I asked, "who?"

He responded with, "well, I can't be an effective protector without a good weapon.. and I've only ever been good with one.."

Glacier walked in, dragging a gigantic treasure chest behind him, "here it is, straight from the vault you asked me to keep it in.."

Glacier lifted it up and dropped it in front of Ryan. It was made of rock and was held close by metal bindings clipped into a circular lock. The lock didn't have a hole for a key, but a slightly hollow spot in a weird shape, almost like the shape of a skull.

Ryan pulled out a golden mask and put it into the hollow spot, causing the chest to unlock. He reached into it and pulled out a huge two handed sword. The blade was crimson like blood, the handle black and with a pommel the shape of a skull. It was also crimson.

"This is bloodletter, a legendary sword, the sword I killed so many people with. I swore I'd never use it to kill with, but if this works, maybe I can redeem myself.. and to do that.. I need a weapon..."

"I understand.."

Ryan held the sword in both hands and then twirled it, moving it to only one hand, "I'll do my best to get you in alive, but it'll be hard on my own.. we should get a few more people.."

"Your right.."

He was right, to be successful I'd need morr help getting in. The only problem was I had no idea who to ask for help.
