(I hope you guys enjoy this chapter. Haven't had time to do grammar checks and typos so I hope that it is ok)
I wondered how the guild had done while I was away ,and I was glad to see it when we returned. The large walls were thicker and stronger than when I had left. They were made from some sort of black stone along with golden metal. There were even giant crossbows and catapults along the walls. Everything else seemed the same aside from the buildings were renovated and improved.
There seemed to be more members and they all had better equipment.
"Maybe I should have stayed away longer. You guys seem to have everything going well."
Ken laughed, "well Ryan is waiting for you. Do you remember the way to the castle?"
"I feel like I could walk there with my eyes closed"
I walked into the castle and into the main hall. It was renovated and had black and gold statues of hooded soldiers with skulls rather than faces. They held golden swords in one hand and their other was holding fire out in front of them like torches. They were so tall that the fiery hands were near the roof.
Ryan was looking down at the table we normally used for planing things.
It had the same map and everything. His armor was slightly different. It wasn't as bulky and had small points extending from the elbows. He also had a huge black shield strapped onto his back and a dark green sword on his waist.
"Seems you've done well since I've been gone"
Ryan looked up and laughed slightly, " thanks to you. Everything was paid for by your idea to sell weapons from here. The walls are still the old material just covered in additional armor layer, and these golden statues are my own personal design. They animate themselves when enemies are near them. The hardest part is cleaning up after they've done their job."
"Sounds impressive."
He quickly walked toward me until he was standing just in front of me, "wait... that isn't the armor I made for you..."
"This is stronger, I had to trade it in."
"Ahh.. well then I'll just have to redeem myself with an even stronger armor than that. But anyways, it's good to have you back. I'm no good at leading people. I can craft and build.. but telling people what to do isn't really my thing."
"Mine either."
"Maybe not, but people hear stories you do all the time. You might not know it, but there are stories going around of you Killing dragons, slaying abominations, defeating whole assassin guilds on your own, beating undefeated champions, breaking hearts ,and making millions at the same time. The people around here look up to that kinda stuff."
"They all sound kind of exaggerated.."
"They probably are, but people need someone they actually know of to lead them. I mean, the person who actually beat the grand champion of the arena is more known of than the blacksmith... you know? I can show people how to fight, I can give them the best equipment that can be made, but I can't inspire them like you could "
"I guess that's true.."
"So, we were planning the attack on the tower. Let me tell you, while you've been gone this guy has been just awful. Every one wants him dead. So we've got allies joining us in this fight."
"Thats good, but the plan is to take him alive so that we can prove I'm innocent. He framed me for killing all those people."
Ryan laughed slightly, "we've got an ally that is willing to prove you didn't. He said he was there when it happened."
