Due to that brokenness, I tried to give her space. And she also gave me the space I needed. However, that space we gave each other lasted like forever.
A year after, I called Anna for her birthday. It was special for her, because it was her 50th birthday. I was invited for a party, but I couldn't make it.
"Hey! It's me. I'm out for a party. Please leave a message."
Crap! It's the answering machine again!
"Hey Anna! It's Frida. I called to wish you a happy birthday. I'm really sorry I couldn't be there. I'm sorry that I was not able to keep my word for a while. But I am looking forward for another chance to make it up to you. If you won't pick this up, then I have nothing more to say. Happy birthday again! Bye!"
But before I dropped the call, I heard the phone was picked up. "Hey Frida? It's me."
"Anna? Is that you?"
"Uh...yeah? Why are so dramatic on a happy day?"
"Because I couldn't make it on your special day, party..." I told her in a low tone.
"Frida, I can understand that you are still grieving over his death, but I need you too. I am still scared to go out after what happened. I don't feel secured although the guys will be there, or my family. I need you to hold my hand every time I feel scared." She sighed. "Sorry, I just had to let it out. I just missed you, sweetie."
"Sorry too. I should have kept my word. I still love you." I took a deep breath then sang a birthday song for her. I modified the usual birthday song.
Happy birthday Aggie
I hope you're happy
Not angry with Annie
I love you baby..."That was sweet Frida! Your song is enough for me. I never knew there's a poet in you." She laughed. "I love you too, sweetie. I really wish you are here."
"Sorry baby. I can't join you. But I am still glad you came into my life, and you're not mad at me. Oh! And I am glad you liked that song."
"You made my day Frida. I love you. I have to finish everything now, okay? Promise me that you won't let go?"
"I won't let go. Okay! Show them you're the queen of the night! Send my regards to the men. Happy birthday again! By the way, your gift's gonna be there soon. I hope you'll like it. I love you sweetie. Enjoy the night."
"Bye Frida." Then she dropped the phone.
I sent her a scrapbook and a locket. I showed her every memory that we had together. We used to take photos together, like how you do selfies these days. The book also contained the letters I wrote to her though she only asked me to write it from a guy's perspective. It was pretend for her before, but it was real for me.
What about the locket? It was just a photo of us in each other's arms when our faces were close together. It was from a dance, I think.
Anyway, she called me that she liked it. I could hear her happiness with every giggle. I was glad that she liked it.
After some time, I was glad that the threat to her life was sent away. It gave me an opportunity to visit her. Yep, most of them were surprise visits.
Our relationship was actually normal. Fights are normal. Laughs are normal. Highs and lows were normal for us as distance and time separated us. We just tried our best to solve the problem. Hello! We're adults.
Five years after, she and I saw each other again for the premiere of the musical Mamma Mia! in Swedish. It was more of the four of us met again for that premier.

RandomFridNetha for the win. I've decided to write my thoughts in relation to my fandom after walking my way home. I've thought of trying to make it parallel to some events, but yeah...I'm just a fangirl. :) (Note: I might be historically inaccurate here.)
