Chapter 4 - Meeting the Howards Part 1

Hi! This chapter is about meeting Russell's family so I thought I would tell you their names incase you dont know them so that you know who I'm talking about and it is easier for me to write about them 😂

David - Father
Ninette - Mother
Kerry - Sister
Daniel - Brother

Y/Ns POV

Today was the day that I finally meet the Howards, and to be honest I was shitting myself. I really love Russell and I'm worried that if his family don't like me, that will bring us apart. I stood nervously outside the block of flats where I live, waiting for Russell to pick me up. Russell pulls up by the pavement and gives me a grin as I get into the passenger seat. His grin slowly drops as he sees how tense I am.
"Hey are you alright?"
"Russ I'm shitting myself"
"I hope not! I just cleaned this car!". I give him a look to show that I'm serious. "Awh Y/N don't stress out about it!" He says as he puts a hand on my arm. "I already can tell they will love you, just like I do" He kisses my cheek which makes me smile.

I decided to try not to panic about it, it would make the journey much longer than it needed to be. I sang to the radio with Russell on the way there. Russell has many great qualities, but let's just say that singing isn't one of them.
" I AM TITAAAANIIIIIUMMMMMM"
"Jesus fucking christ" I say covering my ears.
"What?"
"I love you but please stop"
"You're just jealous of my amazing vocal skills!"
"Vocal skills my ass!"

I didn't realise by this time we had pulled up outside Russell's parent's house. I began worrying again. Russell must have noticed as he squeezed my hand. We both got out the car and walked up to the door. Russell rang the doorbell.
A few seconds later, the door was opened by Russell's brother Daniel. "Hi shit lord" He says to Russell. He looks over to me and says "Holy shit Russell how did you manage to pull her!?" I laugh as annoyance spreads over Russell's face and he says "Fuck off Dan!".

Dan let us in and then Russell's mum, Ninette walked over to see us.
"Hello my prince!" says Ninette as she engrossed Russell in a hug (A/N if anyone has watched Gavin and Stacey I imagine Ninette as being like Pamela for some reason 😂) "Hi mum" He says.
She turns to me and smiles, saying "You must be Y/N! Awh Russell's talked a lot about you!"
"Mum!" Russell scowls.
"And he was right! You're very Beautiful!"
"Aw thank you! You are aswell." At this point Russell was red with embarrassment.

Russell's dad, David then came in. He hugged Russell, patted him on the back and said "Hello son". "Hi dad". He looks at me and smiles. "Its very nice to meet you Y/N." He turns back to Russell and says, "I must say Russell, you are very lucky to manage to get someone like Y/N". "That's what I said!" said Dan, "I don't know how you do it". I then said "Oh he pays me! It's because of his lazy eye." Everyone bursts out laughing, apart from Russell. I turn to him with an achieved smile and he can't help but to start laughing too. "You asshole" He says to me laughing. Ninette pats me on the back and says "welcome to the family, you're gonna fit right in!"

We then hear the doorbell go. Dan opens the door to reveal Russell's sister Kerry. "Sorry I'm late, everything ok? I could hear you lot laughing from outside!" She says. "Y/N made a class joke about Russ' eye" says Dan. Kerry turns to me and says "Ah lovely to meet you Y/N! I can tell you're gonna fit in already." She turns to Russell and says "Russ how come you've found someone so pretty and from what I hear funny aswell?!" "That's what I said!" Said dan and David together. "Wow thanks guys, what a supporting family I have!" said Russell.

We all went into the living room and sat on the sofas. We all talked for about an hour together so they all got to know me and got to know them. It was actually very fun! Russell's family are incredibly funny and loving. Just then Ninette checked her watch and says "Oh I better start making us lunch!". "Do you want help?" I offer. "Oh that would be lovely, thank you Y/N!". I followed her into the kitchen and we started to make sandwiches and other things.
In the middle of it she says, "Do you love Russell?"
I smile to myself and say "Yeah I really do. I think you have an amazing son".
"I can tell he admires you a lot, and I can tell that you believe the same. Russell's past relationships haven't been the best, people have either used him for money or fame or they just end up using him. I can tell that he really cares about you Y/N."
"And I really care for him. I can't believe people would just use him like that!"
"Let's just say that after his last relationship, he was feeling really depressed after what happened. You wouldn't be able to tell. When he got on stage it was almost as if nothing had happened, but when he got off, he wasn't the same Russell we know and love. But thank God you came along, he's become so happy since then! The day you first met at his gig, he rang me up so excited and happy because he said that he actually felt like he fell in love at first sight. At first I didn't believe him, but after today I know that he is definately serious!"
"That's really sweet! I didn't realise that he felt like that, and I'm glad that I've made him happy....... but, if you don't mind me asking, what did happen in his last relationship?"
"Well his now ex girlfriend Cerys was cheating on him for 2 years." (A/N I know Cerys is his real girlfriend and I'm not accusing her of this - it's just for the story)
"Oh my god that's awful!"
"It is, which is why I'm happy he has found someone who is right for him."

I smile, knowing that I am loved by not only Russell, but his family too.

A/N
So I've decided to write Meeting the Howards in 2 parts as this is becoming quite long. Look forward to part 2! I'm not sure if I'll have time to write it tomorrow, so you might have to wait until Sunday.
Also... WE HIT 100 READS! I'm really happy about it! I know it's not that many, but I think it's a pretty good achievement considering I've only been writing for like 4 days? Thanks to everyone who is reading!
