Chapter 30 - Suspicious

3 weeks later

Y/Ns POV

It had been three weeks since Rachel had visited Jade for the first time and she had been around again every Friday . I got the same response from her dad each time and it confused me just as much. I just couldn't work out what his problem was, and I still hadn't seen her mum. I thought that I could have just been making a big deal out of it, but I had a certain feeling that there was more too it. I found out that I was right the next Friday when Jade came over to our house.

I picked up the two giggling girls on the Friday afternoon and drove them to our house. Russell opened the door on our arrival. Rachel skipped past him after giving a hug but Jade stopped in front of him and looked up  at him with her big brown eyes before saying "You must be Russell!"
Slightly confused, Russell replied "Yes ... how did you know?"
"My parents talk about you!" She then turned to me. "And Y/N! I hear them talk about you too!" She then skipped off after Rachel and up the stairs.

Russell and I looked up at eachover, both with a confused expression on our faces.
Russell said "Soooooooo... What did she mean by ..."
"Oh what that her parents talk about us?" I said sarcastically
"Maybe ... they're just fans?"
"Don't get ahead of yourself Russell, how would they know my name?"
"I've talked about you in a few gigs"
"You haven't said my name though!"
We both stopped in silence and pondered.
"I've knew I wasn't overreacting, that's why her dad has been acting this way!" I continued
"That still doesn't make sense"
"Well he must know us!"
"You said you didn't recognise him"
I paused. "I know ... look when he comes to pick Jade up, you answer the door and see what you make of him".

About two hours passed and it was nearly time for Jade to go home. Russell and I sat on the sofa in anticipation for her dad to arrive. Suddenly we heard the doorbell ring. I ran upstairs to get the girls and Russell went to the door.
I opened Rachel's door and said "Jade your dad's here!"
They followed me down the stairs with the sight of Russell at the door. I walked next to him and could feel the tension. It was similar to the way we acted around eachover, yet instead of her dad being strange, he was ... angry. His glare was so sharp it could cut you and his eyebrows were knitted together in a tight frown. I looked down and he was holding one of his fists into a tight ball and it felt very intimidating.

Jade ran into his arms squealing "Daddy!", snapping him out of his trance. After Jade said goodbye to Rachel she looked up at us and said "Bye Russell and Y/N!"
I looked up at her dad. His expression changed so that he looked worried, like she just spilled a secret, like we weren't meant to hear that.

After they left, Rachel headed up to her room leaving Russell and I together.
"Well?" I asked
Russell paused for a few seconds ... took a small breath and said
"Well I don't know him"
I gave him a small slap on his chest. "Not that! The fact that he looked like he wanted to kill you?!"
"Yeah I get what you mean now. It was weird, and when Jade said our names it was like she had ..."
"Done something wrong" we said in unison.
"Is still don't get it" I said. "First her dad acts as if I've done something wrong, then Jade bacically tells us that her parents know and talk about us, and now apparantly you've done something really wrong".
"I have no clue. You didn't get his name did you?"
"No"
"Shit I ... I don't know"
"I have a bad feeling about this"
"Fucking hell Y/N you sound like you're in a movie!" Russell laughed.
I slapped him on the chest again making him laugh harder. He stopped when he saw my blank face. Come on Y/N. He pulled me tightly  into his arms and played with a strand of my hair. "I'm sure it's not as bad as you think it is. They're not going to be bloody axe murderers!"
"It's not that" I said into his chest. "I just don't... trust him that's all. I mean there must be something going on".
"Probably but ... it must just be some kind of misunderstanding. We don't even know him!"
"I guess you're right".

1 week later

I had picked up Rachel from Jade's house again and of course got the same response from her dad. When we got home and sat down for dinner Rachel said "Mum? What did you do wrong?"
I put my knife and fork down. "What do you mean"
"Well I'm not supposed to tell you this but Jade's parents said that you did something very bad which is why they know you"
Russell and I both paused and exchanged a quick glance.
"What are Jade's parents names?"
"I don't know. What did you do wrong ?"
"Nothing Rach, I don't know Jade's parents"
"Well that's what they said, and they said that Russell was a big part of the problem".
"What else did they say" said Russell
"That I shouldn't tell you any of this"
"Anything else?" He said
"That ... that ..."
"It's fine Rachel you can tell us" I said.
"That ... that I shouldn't listen to you two because you're not good people"
Russell and I froze.

"Mum? Dad? Are you not good people?"
