Y/Ns POV
After the tour, we did some more exploring and then went back to the hotel room to look up somewhere to eat. We decided on a very posh restaurant called Le Meurice. Some of the pictures we found of it online were amazing! (Its a real place - Google it if you want to picture it)
I ran to my suitcase and searched through my suitcase to find my dresses. I had brought two of my favourites. After spending 5 minuites contemplating, I eventually decided on a short, flowy strapless dress which was a light pink/peach colour. It had a few diamontes around the waist. It was perfect! I matched it with some sparkly rose gold heels and a small necklace in the shape of a heart which Russell bought me for my last birthday. I curled my hair and applied some makeup. I was all done! I grabbed my handbag and went into the living room where Russell was.Russell's POV
I sat on the sofa feeling as heavy as lead with my nerves. I felt the small box in my pocket to check that it was still there for the hundredth time. I had bought the ring ages ago, about 6 months after meeting Y/N. I saw it the window and I knew it was perfect and I also knew that one day I would propose to her. I had kept it ever since for this day. This was the night I would propose, and I had never felt so excited but scared. What if she said no? We had only been together for about 2 years and she might think that it's too early. I tried to shake the thought out of my head and stay positive.
The bedroom door opened and Y/N stepped into the room. I was speechless. She was so ..... gorgeous. That didn't make my nerves any better. I realised that I was just staring at her gawping when she said "uhh.. Russ?"
"Oh uh ... woah Y/N". She blushed, laughing slightly. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah" I said, checking in my pocket for the box one more time.We walked outside and took a taxi ride to Le Meurice. Once arriving, we both exited the taxi and paused in awe. It was lit up by hundreds of lights and a red carpet lead us inside. The inside was even more grand. The room had many glass chandeliers on the ceiling and marble tiles on the floor. The curtains were velvet and there were many white chairs and tables which had flowers in vases, cutlery and wine glasses on top. On the walls there were many paintings, probably worth thousands and massive windows reaching the ceiling to the floor.
We were greeted by a waiter who greeted us. "Bonsoir. Bienvenue sur Le Meurice. Une table pour combien?" (Good evening. Welcome to Le Meurice. A table for how Many?)
"Juste deux merci" (Just two thank you) Y/N replied.
"Okay me suivre" (Okay follow me)
Y/N nudged me to instruct me to follow. He guided us to a table for two that was quite separate from other people and left us the menus.
"Did he call you gorgeous aswell?" I asked.
"Oh ha ha!" Y/N said replying.
The menu was completely in French so Y/N translated some of it for me.
The waiter returned and we ordered our meals.I couldn't stop thinking about the little box in my pocket and when I would pop the question. My mind was an ocean of worries at that moment.
Our food arrived and we ate it, talking about many things and having the occasional laugh which gained a few stares from the other customers. We were definately not posh.
Time seemed to go too quickly and I hadn't even asked the question when we had finished. I felt like a nervous wreck.
The waiter collected our plates and asked if we wanted desert. Um of course we did!
We ordered a warm brownie with ice cream to share. While we were waiting, my mind kept saying "RUSSELL JUST ASK HER ALREADY"
Yet I stayed completely still. The brownie arrived and we both ate it, even though I felt sick to my stomach. The next thing I knew, we had finished and paid the bill.
I failed.
I failed in asking her. I felt like such a dumbass. We caught another taxi and got back into the hotel room. I felt for the little box again. It was meant to be empty by this time but it wasn't.
"I'm gonna go outside for a bit" Y/N said before stepping outside on the balcony. I laid on the bed and watched her. I did really want to marry her, but I didn't have the guts to ask.
I looked at her and realised, I shouldn't have proposed in the restaurant, I did the right thing. Proposing should be about confessing your love and dedication for that person, not about putting on a show for other people.
I felt the box in my pocket and took a deep breath. I climbed off of the bed and opened the glass doors, stepping out onto the balcony. I stood next to Y/N. I took another breath, and while looking at the view I said "Y/N... I need to say something to you"
She turned to me and said. "okay"
I turned to her. This is it. I took her hands in mine.
"Y/N... you have made me the happiest man in the world. I don't know where I would be without you. I wanted to say that ... I love you so much. Everything about you is so wonderful. Your smile, your humour, your beauty, your intelligence, your laugh. I know I have only known you for about 2 years but it seems like a lifetime .... and I would love to spend the rest of my lifetime with you." Y/N realised what I was about to do and her smile turned to a face of surprise while a tear escaped her eye. I took another breath and got down on one knee, pulling out the box. "Y/F/N .... will you marry me?"
She giggled while still crying and said "Fuck yes".
I placed the ring on her finger and started crying myself. I got up from the floor and we hugged eachover tightly while crying into eachovers shoulders and smiling. I pulled her in for a kiss. My arms wrapped around her back while she placed one of her hands on the back of my neck and one in my hair. This was the greatest moment of my life.
Kissing my new fiancée on a balcony in the moonlight of Paris. You did it Russell.
You did it.
A/N
