"I think we need to take a.... A break," Katy sighed as she bit her lip, her turquoise eyes shining something more beautiful than I could ever have personally envisioned possible in the moonlight we had currently situated ourselves right in the middle of.
"What do you mean?" I asked, looking at her strangely as she suddenly spurted the most odd phrase. Break up, break up, she's breaking up with you, my brain started. My anxiety when it came to Katy was ridiculous; it almost felt like I was walking on eggshells around her. Scared of losing her. Terrified, actually.
"You've been signing those photos for ages. You need some sleep baby," She smiled, biting her lip as she looked up from her iPhone from where she was seated next to me on the love sofa, whereas my focus was indeed on what felt like millions of posters on the coffee table in front, signing and signing. At this point my hand had cramped, but I knew I had a job to do.
"I'd rather just get them over and done with," I sighed, not looking back at Katy as I flipped yet another poster over, and continuing signing.
"You're gonna get exhausted..." Katy said in a lighter, but stern tone, making me shift my focus and turn to her.
"You're one to talk!" I chuckled, slightly raising my left eyebrow in amusement, however I stopped when I noted Katy wasn't impressed, her eyebrows crossed as she looked at me oddly. "Kate, don't worry about me. Worry about you, ok?"
"Don't pull that shit with me, John. We're in a relationship, I care about you and your wellbeing, that's why I'm here..." She sighed, putting her phone down to look at me directly, which I met her with a small smile.
"You're here because I love you and I want you to be here. Stop stressing yourself out over me, just relax," I said gently, noticing she was somewhat stressed, something I'd failed to notice before. I gently placed my hand on her bare thigh, rubbing her perfect porcelain skin with my thumb as she gnawed on her fingernail.
"Relax? We haven't spent any time together this entire time like we are supposed to. I have a million fucking things to do, don't you think I'd rather be in L.A. getting them done, John? Really?" She snapped, making me retract back and take my hand away from her thigh, awkwardly fumbling with my hands in my lap as she suddenly spat words out viciously in a louder voice.
"If you'd rather be in LA, then leave. No one is forcing you to stay, you know I would never do that," I said back quietly, thinking it was the right way to handle her in this situation.
Ding ding, you're wrong.
"You're being such a fucking prick, John," She said as she rolled her eyes, picking her phone up from her lap and sliding it to unlock it.
"No, Katy. I'm not. But if you want to leave then fine, go. Whatever," I said, hurt that she'd suddenly gotten pissed for what seemed like no reason at all. I was trying; I really was. I couldn't remember the last time I balanced a tour and love life at the same time, let alone having my girlfriend join me on tour - even for a few days. I tried to spend as much time with her as I could, but I didn't have much at all.
"Fine, I'll go," She stated, throwing herself up and off of the couch, walking in a huff towards the corner of the room where her duffel bag was.
"You're not actually leaving, are you?" I questioned, a little worried that she actually was being serious. I understood she was stressed about the upcoming release of PRISM, and that her schedule had been completely fucked since Roar came out around three weeks ago, but it was almost like she'd turned into a totally different person. It was completely scary.
