JOHN'S POV

"That was one time, dude. You've never let me live it down since!" My brother Ben laughed, making me double over as I leant against the kitchen counter, the loud sound of the music that had been playing for hours ringing in my ears - in the best way possible. I'd gotten caught up talking to my two brothers when I'd come into the kitchen to pour myself and Katy another drink, thoroughly enjoying myself this New Years Eve - I knew it was going to be the best one yet. How could it not? I had Katy by my side. I was so ready for what 2013 would bring for the both of us.

"Well, guys. As much as I'd love to keep reminding you of your stupid teenage years, I have a woman to attend to, who is waiting on me for a beverage. Who, I must add, is much more attractive than the both of you," I chuckled, making myself laugh at my way of talking to them, watching as they rolled their eyes and shook their heads amusingly.

I chuckled to myself as I placed both of the drinks in my hands - me, a beer and Katy a vodka and lemonade, her favourite - before making my way through the masses of people in the house, towards Katy who was outside on the lounge chairs. The music blasting was louder than ever, and I awkwardly looked at the Rolex watch on my wrist to see it was almost midnight, only making seeing Katy that much more exciting. This was our first New Years together... I could only hope it would be one of many more to come.

"Hey, did you guys see where Katy went?" I asked in confusion as my eyes gazed over the empty chair where Katy was sitting just a moment ago. Her cousin, Sarah, and boyfriend shook their heads, pouting their lips in reply. Strange, I thought. Wonder where she could've gone.

"Maybe she's with Shannon? Last we saw she was heading inside," Sarah replied a little drunkenly, her arm flopped lazily over the chair as her long blonde hair covered her face messily.

"Ah, okay," I smiled, the impending arrival of midnight making me a little nervous in my efforts to find where my girlfriend was in her incredible expansive home here in the Hollywood Hills. I debated with myself whether I should bother trying to look for her, but I didn't want to be too much of a clingy boyfriend - that was something I definitely didn't want to do. I let out a sigh as I made my way back over to the doors leading to the inside of Katy's home, the alcohol making me feel dizzy as I sipped generously on my drink, Katy's still clutched in my hand as I slowly made my way towards the door.

It was only as I waved over to one of my best friends, Gavin Rossdale - who was with his wife Gwen Stefani, over at the table in the living room - that I came into contact with a familiar petite figure hastily making their way past me, bumping lightly into the side of my torso which made me glance. I sighed a breath of relief as I looked back at Shannon, who looked flustered and agitated as she chewed her lip, an empty glass of wine held firmly in her hand. Just as she smiled weakly and was about to make her way past me, I placed my hand on her arm, making her furrow her eyebrows as she was stopped in her tracks.

"Shan," I asked, pulling her towards me so she could hear what I was saying. "Have you seen Katy at all?"

"No," She sighed, biting her lip as she widened her her eyes at me. "Not for a couple of hours. Maybe she's with Mia upstairs? I know she wanted to talk to her tonight about some song."

"Oh, alright. Thanks," I smiled, letting go of her arm as she smiled at me, thinking nothing of it. I couldn't pinpoint why, but I just had this weird feeling in my lower stomach... Like when something is wrong. I shrugged my shoulders as I made my way over to Gavin and Gwen, deciding to focus on the party rather than my overthinking. It was ridiculous, I was being ridiculous.
