Whoop whoop this was a prompt.

This is a songfic to Burning House, Cam.

(This might be a little hard to understand??)

TW: Death is kind of mentioned but no one actually dies, it's just sad.

I had a dream about a burning house
You were stuck inside, I couldn't get you out
I laid beside you and pulled you close
And the two of us went up in smoke

Phil heard yells. He ran directly towards the source, his heart beating rapidly. There were flames, around him, towering above and threatening to envelope him. He noticed Dan sitting in the corner of the room and suddenly, his fear vanished. Dan was struggling to breathe, it was obvious by the way his chest heaved. Phil sprinted forward and put an arm around him. "Dan, it will be okay!" He whispered but Dan just shook his head. "Come on, we need to leave."

"We can't leave, Phil. We're going to die. All of the exits are blocked." Dan responded, his voice broken. Sure enough, the door (their only hope of escape) was blocked by flames. "Can you hold me? You know.. until we die." Phil nodded and wrapped both of his arms around Dan.

They stayed like that.

Love isn't all that it seems I did you wrong
I'll stay here with you until this dream is gone

Phil's eyes burst open and he found that he was alone. And alive. It was just a dream. Him and Dan were okay- they weren't dead. Phil reassessed the whole dream, trying to find a meaning. All it made him do was begin to cry.

He thought he was insane because he wanted to back to the dream.

He was with Dan and he could stay with him until the dream passed. Phil had held him and it was like things had never changed.

I've been sleepwalking, been wandering all night
Trying to take what's lost and broke and make it right
I've been sleepwalking too close to the fire
But it's the only place that I can hold you tight
In this burning house

It was recurring dream. Phil had it every night and every night he wished he would never wake up. Sometimes, when his eyes opened to reality, he thought that maybe Dan had never left and never cheated.

But he did.

Phil, every morning, found himself hugging his knees against his chest sobbing.

The dream made his heartbreak even worse.

See you at a party and you look the same
I could take you back but people don't ever change
Wish that we could go back in time
I'd be the one you thought you'd find

Phil was leaning against the wall, a red cup in his hand. People were buzzing all around him, drinking alcohol and dancing crazily. He didn't want to be there but his friend had forced him to go.

His heart twisted in his chest as he noticed a certain brown-haired boy. He was laughing confidently as he danced with another boy. He looked the same. There wasn't even a hint of regret or sadness on his face.

Suddenly, Phil had to leave. He threw his cup down on the closest table and stormed out of the house. He didn't even tell his friend he was going... what was the point anymore?

Love isn't all that it seems I did you wrong
I'll stay here with you until this dream is gone

Phil knew he was being ridiculous but he literally sprinted all the way home. He burst into his bedroom and dropped onto the bed, tears immediately filling his eyes. Soon enough, he was sobbing.
