I get pushed by the man down to the ground. I yelp in pain as my body slams harshly on the rocky ground. Pain hits me like lightning through my shoulder, which had contact with the ground as I fell. An inhuman scream comes out of my mouth, as I force myself up again. I need the support of the vehicle to stand up. You're fine. You're fine. I tell myself.
"Tris?" I hear Olivia's quiet voice as she stands up too. I turn my head towards her. Her cast is all ripped up. I'm confused at how it keeps her hand lifted up a little. I cover my mouth with one hand and cup the side of her face with my other one. I pull her towards me, hugging her tightly as I feel the horrible feeling of worry slightly fade away as I know she is right beside me, safe and alright.
"Oh my god, Olivia–" I squeak and a sob comes out of my mouth after saying her name. She wraps her arms around my neck tightly, and hugs me back. I can hear her cry quietly. "What did they do to you? Are you okay?" I ask, pulling back and checking if there are any serious injuries, besides the bruises and cuts.
"I'm fine." She says and wipes her tears. Just as I want to hug her again, I get pulled back from her, by the man I still have no idea who he is. He's harsh. Every move he makes is forceful and firm. I yank my arm, hitting him directly on the face, and then push him away from me.
"Don't touch me!" I scream. I can see it in his eyes that he wants to strangle me to death, but he controls himself. I turn to Olivia again.
"Tris, I'm scared." She says wiping her tears. "I want to go home." She blubbers.
"You're safe now. You're okay. Let's take you home." I whisper calmly so she'll calm down, stroking her hair and holding her close to make her feel safe and alright. She nods and sniffles as she snuggles up in my chest.
"Get in the car." The man demands. His voice low and frightening. It brings me back to reality again. To the hard and anxious reality.
I nod my head slightly, and get in the back of the car with Olivia. The man closes the door forcefully and then sits in the drivers seat. He starts driving towards our – Tobias' and Olivia's – house. "Are we gonna be okay?" Olivia asks quietly. Tears fill my eyes as I force myself to smile.
"Yes, squirrel. We'll be alright." I assure her, and a wide smile draws her lips. It's sad how children believe everything you tell them. It's sad how they think the world is perfect, and even if it wasn't perfect till now, it will be from now on. The ride home is surprisingly faster than I thought. Less than two minutes maybe. As Olivia smiles the closer we get home, I tense and worry more. The vehicle stops in front of our house, and the man gets out of the car. Right before he can open the door for Olivia to get out of the car, a deafening bang is heard from outside the car. Olivia screams, and so do I. I pull her closer, and try to protect her by hiding her behind my body. The man falls to the ground and blood has been stroked on the car window. I think it was a gunshot.
"What's happening?!" Olivia asks behind me. I shiver and try to keep my breaths under control so I won't lose it. Someone else starts approaching the vehicle. I look behind. The car has am open space between the back of the car (where suitcases are probably put / where we are now), and the back seats (where children usually sit). I pick up Olivia which causes my shoulder to hurt so bad, I almost drop her down. I lay her down under the back car seats, her tummy facing the "ground", so she won't be visible to whoever has a gun and wants to kill us. I lie on the back seats, trying to keep quiet. The door of the car's back opens. I place my index finger against my lips, to tell Olivia to keep quiet. She nods slightly. Tears stream down her cheeks which break my heart.
The person who opened the door is a man. I know that because of the manly pants. He sniffles and I think he starts crying. A sigh of relief leaves my mouth when I recognize his voice. I slowly rise up from the seats and look towards him, to make sure it's Tobias. And it is.
I pick Olivia up, trying to keep her weight on only one hand, but the pain in my shoulder is still u bearable. I look at him, to see his expression. He has stopped sobbing. Now he just stares at both of us with no words, and tears build up in his eyes again. I look at Olivia now, and she smiles widely. She runs towards Tobias and hugs him. I smile fadedly as I approach them.
Tobias pulls back, not because he wants to, but because he remembered something. "We need to go to the police station, before anything else happens." He states and I nod. "Then we can speak of other things," he picks Olivia up and we run towards his car.
