Love Shouldn't Cause Pain?

The walk home.

♦Harley's p.o.v ♦

All I wanted to do was leave the cave... I wanted to leave those memories behind. I gripped Selina's hand and we started to stumble home. I ripped out my heart and gave it to the one person I trusted, Red and she threw it away. I do not regret it, that kiss was the best moment of my life, If I could go back in time I wouldn't change anything... Except my expectations. When Red kissed me I thought it meant something, then I saw her kiss Bat kid. Just thinking of it made a singular tear roll down my face. Selina clearly noticed and squeezed my hand tight, dragging me away from my thoughts that were slowly consuming me. I pulled my hand up to my face and wiped away the trail left behind by that singular tear. I let my hand flop back down to my side and turned to face Kitty who gave me a reassuring smile. Selina is like my big sister, we don't see each other often but when we do see each other she tries so hard to make me happy. I loved Kitty, she's the only family I have. She looked like she was just as confused as I was about what just happened, the start of her brown brows pointed down into a V like shape towards the bridge of her button nose. She knew we couldn't talk about it right now because Red was trailing not to far behind us.

The whole duration of the walk home was silent, filled solely with thoughts. When we finally got out of the tunnels we were hit with the unfamiliar sight of sunshine, Gotham is highly polluted so thanks to global dimming we barley ever get a really sunny day. We all took a moment to take in the rare delight of the sun's rays. Red looked even more beautiful than before, her skin went a couple shades darker than before and her hair looked so flawless, the expression on her face didn't change though. She looked... I don't know what the expression on her face was. She looked like she was trying to hide something but it looked different, maybe she's trying to hide her feelings for Bat kid.

"Hey, we should take Skylar out to the park today. It might be the only chance we get, Gotham is never this nice. Hopefully there are still a couple good hours of sun left. So what do u say?" Selina looked up at me so excited.

"Sure, why not. Might as well whilst the sun is out." I grinned at Kitty who looked like she was about to burst with excitement. It could take my mind of everything and I really don't get to spend much time with my big sis over there.

"Do you want to come with Pam?" I looked over at Red as soon as Kitty asked her the question. It's not that I didn't want her there it was just... I don't know, it just hurt. Having her around and her acting like nothing happened, It hurt.

"Erm no. I'm probably going to water my babies and work, I've had enough sun for one day... Maybe we could meet up later if it's still nice out." Red plastered a smile onto her face and we continued walking home, not much further now thankfully.

🏡 At Home... 🏡

As we all stumbled in the door me and Kitty made her way over to Skylar and Phoebe, Red on the other hand went right back into her lab like she never left. Phoebe stood up and skipped towards me with open arms, Skylar pranced over to Kitty who scooped her up and held her close to her chest. Phoebe trapped me in her warm embrace, the close contact triggered the memory to replay in my mind. Tears rolled down my face causing Phoebe to pull away and gaze into my watery eyes with her own hazel ones.

"What's wrong Hun?" I pushed away from Phoebe and turned towards Kitty. Pleading with my eyes, I just wanted to forget for now.

"Phoebe... Something happened at the cave. Something between Pamela and Harley. Let's just say we might of miss read the situation and well Harley isn't in the mood for close contact." It's like Kitty read my mind. "Moving on swiftly wanna come to the park with us?"

"Nope I'm gonna stay here and watch some more TV, enjoy yourself though ... Feel better Harley." Phoebe patted my shoulder and walked back over to the sofa which she soon after planted her self into.

Me and Kitty both sprinted upstairs and dressed light, for the hot weather. Kitty was wearing dark green three quarter length cargo pants and a navy blue sleeveless crop top. I on the other hand was wearing a loosely fitting cream summer dress with a small green ivy pattern around the trim, I'm surprised Red had this dress just lying around. After we both got ready we hurried down stairs, Kitty scooped up Skylar and we made our way to the door, we had to hurry there was no telling how much longer the sun would be out it was already 2 o'clock in the afternoon. We jumped through the door and placed Skylar's paws onto the floor, Skylar had never been outside before. We didn't want to let Skylar out just in case something happened, we know who lives round here and we know crime... Really petty crime. We watched as she sniffed at the air and cautiously prodded at the ground beneath her.

My eyes drifted back to the door, I just left Red and Phoebe in the house alone ... What if they. No, there both my friends they- they wouldn't. Yes they would, Red can get anyone she wants and she made it pretty clear she does not want me so ... So yeah. I could of possibly let my one true love slip through my fingers ... I should never of told her that I loved her.
