Song: Let Me Love You- Glee
The doctor walked into Wes' room, and when he looked at Wes, his clipboard slipped from his hands, clattering to the ground. "Holy hell."
Wes' smirked, intertwining his fingers with mine. The doctor chuckled, "Well, the chances weren't very big, but as much time as this young lady spent here talking to you, I can't say I'm completely surprised. Let me check your vitals and injuries."
The doctor checked his eyes, heart, lungs, and blood pressure, then he brought another nurse in to get blood work from Wes while he checked his injuries. As the doctor moved Wes' legs and arms, Wes winced and his grip on my hand tightened. I hated seeing him in pain. It was as if I could feel it myself.
"While you were in the coma, we performed x-rays on your ribs. They're bruised, so you're going to be in pain for a couple weeks, but they'll heal on their own. Your ankle is sprained, so just keep it wrapped and have someone help you walk around to alleviate the pressure. Other than that, you have some minor cuts and bruises, and once we get the results of your blood work, you'll be good to go. For now and the next couple weeks, just take it easy and rest."
Wes shook the doctor's hand, and then he left the room, leaving us alone once again. Wes caressed the skin of my hand with his thumb, smiling softly. "You know, Molls, I could hear everything you were saying to me. About how you couldn't live without me, and how in love with me you are..."
He wiggled his eyebrows, and I groaned, hiding my face in his shoulder. "I-I don't know what you're talking about."
"It's okay, baby. I always knew you had the hots for me." I smacked his shoulder, and he winced, but still laughed like the idiot he was. "Don't be so embarrassed. I loved it and it was the only thing that made me hold on. I just love teasing you."
I rolled my eyes. "I hate you."
"You love me."
He smiled cheekily, and I rolled my eyes again as I rested my head on his shoulder, looking up at him. His smile grew bigger as he tucked a piece of hair behind my ear, but then remorse washed over his face, and he looked away from me. "What's wrong?"
"I've been terrible to you all these years, Molls." He sighed. "You don't know how sorry I am for everything, all the regrets I have... If I could do it over again, I would've never walked away all those years ago. I would've told you then how I felt about you."
His eyes grew glassy, and I grabbed his face, making him look at me. I smiled softly. "It's okay, Wes. That's the past and while we can't change it, we can make a better future. What matters right now is that you're here, and you're okay. We are okay."
"I really wanna kiss you right now." He mumbled, caressing my cheek. Then his infamous smirk appeared. "But I haven't brushed my teeth in days and even though I know you're dying to kiss me too, I'm sure my breath would kill you before my charm ever could."
I shook my head. "You are insufferable, you know that?"
He smiled. "You wouldn't have me any other way."
For the next hour, Wes and I laid in his hospital bed together, resting while we waited on his test results. Once the doctor brought them back and cleared Wes, he prepared his discharge papers, and we were finally able to go home. I had to help him get dressed, and then I helped him walk out to the truck, and once we arrived at home, I helped him walk in, but the sight I saw took me completely by surprise. Glancing over my shoulder, Wes shot me his breathtaking smile.
A bouquet of red roses sat on the table by the door, and Wes led me into the kitchen before disappearing down the hallway. On the island were a couple of small things, each having a note with Wes' handwriting in front of them. The first item was two packs of skittles.
