Song: Boom Clap- Charlie XCX
"Come on, Molls. We're going to be late!" Wes whined, and I ran down the stairs to see him pouting as he waited by the door. I giggled, kissing the pout off his lips.
"You can't be late to the fair, babe."
He rolled his eyes, smirking slightly as he grabbed my hand and dragged me out the door. "I know. I just want to make it the best night of your life."
He practically shoved me in the car before hopping in the driver's seat and driving towards the fair. The whole way there, he rambled on about everything he wanted to do and see, and I found it adorable how excited he was. For as long as I could remember, he had always been that way about the fair. The ones in Montana weren't as big as California's fairs, so I could only imagine how astonished he was going to be when he saw the one we were going to.
As he drove on the highway, he had the faintest smile on his face as his fingers laced with mine. Golden hour was just starting, and his hazel eyes seemed to sparkle as the sun reflected in them, and I found myself admiring every part of him, from his eyes to his freckles, from his dimples to how serene his smile looked. He caught my gaze and winked, tightening his grip on my hand.
"Checking me out already?"
I rolled my eyes, feeling the heat rise in my face. "We haven't even been in the car for ten minutes and your ego is already getting to your head."
"You love my ego."
I smirked. "Debatable."
He scoffed, removing his hand from mine to dramatically place it over his heart. "You wound me, Molls."
"Stop being dumb." I teased, leaning over to press a gentle kiss on his cheek. "You know I love you."
"Well then," He smiled brightly, grabbing my hand and pressing a kiss against the back of it. "I guess you're lucky I love you too."

"Alright, what do you want to ride first?" Wes asked as we walked around the fair, examining every ride and game there was. We continued to walk around until I spotted the Himalaya. It had sparkling red seats, and when the ride started, it went around the track at top speed, and then it would slow down and go backwards until it reached that speed again. I pulled Wes toward the ride, and he chuckled as we climbed the steps to the ticket man.
"One ticket." The ticket man held out his hand, and Wes and I handed him a ticket. The guy opened the gate for us, and we walked to one of the seats, me sitting on the inside and Wes on the outside. After we put on our seat belts, Wes wrapped his arm around me and smiled.
"I knew you'd pick this one. You always wanted to ride it a thousand times at the fairs back home."
"It's a fun ride!" I argued, giggling as I rested my head against his shoulders. As I thought about our childhood, I remembered the other days at the fair without Wes, and found myself swallowing the lump in my throat. "After you and I went to the fair, dad would always take me another day so that I could ride it again."
Wes' arm tightened around my shoulder as he kissed my temple. I looked at him, and he shot me a sad smile before pecking my lips. "You don't have to worry. I'll bring you here everyday just so you can ride it with me."
A genuine smile returned to my face, and then the man started the ride. We went around the track slow at first, but with each round, the speed increased until it was going extremely fast, and Wes and I started laughing like crazy. After it was at top speed, it slowed again and we started moving backwards. As it reached top speed again, I threw my arms up, laughing loudly and enjoying every second.
