CORRESPONDS TO CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Song: Only You- Selena Gomez

Wes

I was supposed to be on the first flight to Montana.

As my flight was announced delayed, I grew more and more frustrated. The contractors were meeting me that day to run over a few structural items that needed fixing in the house, and I was going to begin renovating the kitchen. The flooring I had ordered had arrived at the store in Montana, and Daniel had picked them up for me. They were the style that Molly had always dreamed about having, and I had been so excited to lay them down and (almost) finish her dream house.

As the announcement came over the speaker that the flight to Montana would be delayed for another three hours, I sunk down in my seat, feeling defeated. Why was the universe so against me getting to Montana that day? I didn't understand.

Until I got her phone call.

Considering that, once again, we had left each other on a bad note after another argument, I hadn't expected her to speak to me, let alone call me. I didn't know why then, but seeing her picture flash on my phone while her ringtone played sent chills down my spine while my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach. When I finally picked up, a strangled sob sounded through the line, and panic instantly filled me. "Molly? Is everything alright?"

"Wes," She cried, and my chest twisted tightly hearing the fear in her shaking voice. "Please come home. I need you."

That should have been my first warning sign. Molly never begged-- especially when she was mad at me.

My grip on the phone tightened. "Hey, listen to me. Just breathe, alright? Tell me what's wrong."

No matter how mad we were at each other, or how our argument ended, she was still the girl I loved, and I would do anything to ease the pain she felt. But that night was different. Molly had sounded like I had never heard her before, and it scared me to death. She had never sounded so desperate, so in despair, and when she started wheezing, a sure sign of a panic attack. "Please, you don't understand. I'm not safe. I need--"

The line grew eerily silent, but in the background, I could hear a door slamming open and a deep chuckle that sent an ice cold chill down my spine. Then, before I could react, the line went dead. The hairs on the back of my neck stood, and I knew I needed to get home as quickly as I could. I quickly grabbed my bags and ran out of the airport, speeding down roads as much as I could. I wasn't sure what had happened, but hearing her tell me that she wasn't safe overwhelmed me with panic like I had never felt before.

I swerved into the driveway, nearly running into the light pole at the end of the driveway. Zipping into the house, I instantly heard her whimpers upstairs, and when I kicked down her door, I found Andy ripping off her shirt and then hitting her when she cried.

"Where's Wes to save you now!?" He yelled in her face, and she wailed. Andy hit her multiple times, and then he forced his lips on hers. Intense rage soared throughout my entire body, and I ripped him off of her, throwing him harshly against the wall. When he caught sight of me, he rolled his eyes and smirked. "Hello, Grayson. You missed the show."

"Get the hell off of her!" I growled, grabbing the collar of his shirt as I slammed him against the wall. His eyes darkened, and I tightened my grip on his shirt. "I swear to God, if you ever come near her gain or lay a finger on her, I'll kill you."

Andy bitterly laughed, his eyes narrowing as his smirk returned. "Always the hero, huh, Wes? Yet here you are messing around with Katie and Molly," He spit in my face, and all I saw was red. If it hadn't been for Molly sitting behind me, scared to death, I would've ended him right then and there. "You made your choice. Molly's mine now."
