"Boys," the Queen of DunBroch, Elinor, said to her triplet sons, Hamish, Hubert and Harris. Her voice caught their attention immediately, "You are dismissed," the queen continued.

The three brothers nodded and jumped off their chairs with hidden cream puffs under their clothes. They quickly made their exit, heading towards the door of the Grand Hall with some of the cream puffs falling out in the process.

"Uh..." Merida, the rebellious redhead princess of DunBroch, mumbled, "What... did I do now...?" she said, nervous with what her mother could say next. The queen would only excuse her brothers if she did something wrong or if it was something really private. Either way, Merida did not like it.

"Your father has something to discuss with you," Elinor stated as the Bear King, Fergus, spat out his drink in surprise. "... Fergus?" she gestured for him to talk.

Fergus cleared his throat, "Merida..." he hesitated to speak as he did not know what to say.

Elinor sighs quietly and rolls her eyes. She then took the initiative to speak, "The lords are presenting their sons as suitors for your betrothal," Fergus groaned and fell back on his chair.

"What?" Merida said in disbelief.

"The clans have accepted! Including that newly acquainted one," Elinor said with excitement.

"... Dad!" Merida exclaimed, turning to her father.

"What?" Fergus paused from biting a turkey leg, "... I... you... she... Elinor!" he stuttered.

"Honestly, Merida!" Elinor said sternly, "I don't know why you're acting like this.

Merida groaned, burying her face on the table as her mother talked on, "This year, each clan will present a suitor to compete in the games for your hand," Elinor continued.

"I suppose a princess just does what she's told," Merida shouted, lifting her head from the table.

"A princess does not raise her voice," the queen said in a serious manner with a stiff expression on her face. She sighed and her face softened, but still bearing the strictness, "Merida, this is what you've been preparing for your whole life," she said.

"No!" Merida stood up in anger, "This is what you've been preparing me for my whole life!" she started to walk off but paused to get her bow which was resting near her chair, "I won't go through with it. You can't make me!" she angrily storms out of the Grand Hall.

"Merida!" Elinor shouted, though her voice did not reach her daughter.

Merida marched towards the stables with her bow and some arrows. She rode her horse, Angus, and left castle grounds without anyone noticing her. They ran through the dark woods for what felt like an hour or so. Merida had a strange feeling as if they were lost.

And they were.

Merida got off of Angus and they just walked around in the darkness, hoping that they will miraculously find their way back home. They walked and they found tall rocks standing in a circle. They had ancient markings on them and they were not of equal sizes. Angus started panicking as Merida tried to pull him into the middle of the rock formation. "What's gotten into ya?" she muttered.

Then, she heard a whisper. Like the voice of a child. It seemed to say, "Here,"

Merida turned around to see... a will-o-wisp! A small, floating blue flame that appears to have a body, a head, two faintly glowing eyes and two arms that gestures one to come closer.
