7 months were spent on the road. 7 long months, of hardly talking and hardly being around eachother. Tina isolated herself from everyone, it was like the happy, vibrant side of her was gone.
Things were getting hard too, Lori was heavily pregnant, something not a lot of the group knew at first, especially Tina and from what Glenn told her Shane was the potential father, maybe that was why things were so tense with Rick and Shane at the farm?
----
"Good news..think we found somewhere" Rick announced as he returned from a run with Daryl "a prison just up there" Daryl pointed with an arrow. "few walkers inside that were former prisoners but we can take it" Rick encouraged everyone smiling. "We need a place to call home and soon" Hershel told Rick motioning to Lori with her heavy bump looking fed up, more so than the others.
Rick, Daryl, TDog and Glenn pushed through the prison whilst Maggie and Tina tied the fence and drew the walkers to build up so they were easier to take down. One fence down, one more to go! Splitting up they took the prison walkers out on the field using tools and knives instead of loud guns, wasting the few bullets they had remaining.
Taking a moment and embracing what they had achieved , the boys, Maggie and Tina smiled triumphantly at the fact they were so close to making something permanent. "We going further in?" Glenn asked as he leant exhausted on Maggie. "Nah, more tomorrow, seal this off and get a camp going and push further in in the morning. For now, we rest" Rick announced.
As the others joint them in the field they set up a make shift camp for the night with Glenn, Rick and Daryl swapping over on night watches.
"You did good today" Daryl croaked as he opened up Tina's tent. Sitting up she sighed "we need somewhere for Lori" "we need a place for all of us" Daryl interjected. "You not on watch?" Tina asked fiddling with her shoelaces as she sat with her legs huddled up to her chest. "Not for a while" he whispered closing the tent behind him. Tina rolled her eyes but luckily he didnt see. "This is the most you have said in a while" Daryl stated with concern putting his hand on her arm which she immediately pushed away "no one talks to me. Everyone assumes im upset about Shane, i mean i am but its not like he has left me with a broken heart. Everyone would just rather not speak to me" she huffed with a hint of sass in her voice. "You aint exactly easy to be around right now" Daryl said with a flat smile as if it was funny. Tina shook her head "Daryl, you cut me out your life like i was nothing. You wouldnt look at me let alone speak to me. You treated me how Merle used to treat prostitutes, except i didnt get paid" Tina confessed showing her emotion. Daryl shuffled awkwardly, fiddling with his crossbow and hanging his head low. Holding her hands up in 'surrender' she told him "whatever Daryl. Im getting some sleep. I'll see you around" and with that she turned and faced away wiping a stray tear from her cheekbone.
Tina woke to someone unzipping her tent and re zipping it. The sound sent a chill up her spine, she wondered how long she had been asleep and wondered if it had been Daryl. Opening the zipper she poked her head out and saw all the other tents closed with everyone sleeping inside. She noticed Rick checking the perimeter in the distance and then Daryl behind an over turned bus lighting up a cigarette. It must of been him leaving. "Psst, what you doing?" She whispered walking up to him, "needed some air" he growled "you were in with me?" She asked pointing to her tent. He nodded not making eye contact. Tina pursed her lips and looked at the ground "you can stay in there tonight, saves me being alone" she offered walking back to her tent.
Huddling under the covers she lay waiting for Daryl to enter, if he even would. Maybe she came on a bit strong, they had only just started communicating again and now she felt like she had pushed him too far. Giving up and letting sleep win she closed her eyes.
"Fuck" she heard Daryl whisper as he dropped his crossbow coming inside the tent causing her to burst out a giggle as she turned to look at him. "We can top and tail?" She offered slinging a pillow to the other end of the tent to which Daryl grunted as he lay down "gross you sleep in your clothes?" She quipped "must of left my slippers and pjs in my other bag" he snapped sarcastically. Tina sarcastically laughed. "Least take your top off or something" she suggested before blushing bright red and correcting herself "you know..sweat and stuff" she stammered before mentally kicking herself for saying stuff like that. As the awkward silence fell over them it was clear neither were sleeping and maybe this was a bad idea inviting him in.
"I cant sleep" Tina said after what seemed like hours of silence. "You should it will be morning soon" he told her matter of factly. "Its really cold" she shivered, Daryl stood up and took off his jacket and threw it to her gently "thanks" she whispered placing it over her body. "Daryl?" She called out softly as she cosy-ed herself "mm?" He moaned "lay with me" she asked, before she had the words out Daryl leant up and rearranged himself so he was next to her as Tina pushed herself infront of him to spoon, she felt his chest bounce with nerves as they got closer. "Better?" He asked her nervously. Entwining her fingers into his she felt his squeeze hers. Spinning around so she was facing him, hands still enveloped she breathed out nervously as did he as she looked at him wide eyed. "Dont" he whispered.
