Out Of Time [end]

"So the Saviours took your bike?" Tina quizzed Daryl as they had breakfast. It had been a week since she was held hostage by some of The Saviours and everyone was relieved everyone came back from it, but tension was definitely  mounting.

"Mmhmm" Daryl replied as he took a mouthful of toast. "I dont want you out there anymore, until this is done just stay here, i thought id lost you back there" Daryl added looking into Tina's eyes. "And thats how I feel when you go out there" Tina quipped in reply "i can handle myself" he replied, He was right, he could handle himself better than she could.

"I'll only be a fee hours today with Rosita and Denise" Daryl spoke. They had to find more medical supplies as it was revealed Maggie was pregnant a few days previously and Denise said there was a place no one would think to look for supplies so thats where they were headed. "Abraham and Eugene are out too, he says there is a place where he can craft ammunition, Rick thinks its a good idea" Daryl added. Tina laughed sarcastically "and i'll be here" she finished rolling her eyes. "Dont be like that" He replied standing up and pulling her into a hug. "This is our life here, i'll always come back, you know i will" he reassured her, kissing her on her lips he gently stroked Poppy's head as she lay on a play mat before heading out to meet Rosita and Denise.

The few hours passed by and Daryl and the girls were not back, They must of had to head further out than anticipated for these supplies. Trying not to worry Tina scooped up Poppy and lay her down for a nap.

Rick knocked on her door and Tina let him in "we are going to the hilltop, with Maggie being pregnant she needs to see a doctor and they have more there than we do, just thought id see if you will have Judith for me, Carl is coming he wants to get out of these walls" Rick asked of Tina. "I feel his pain" She moaned as Rick looked confused at her "nevermind, yea ill have her bring her over" she retracted faking a smile. "Daryl will be back soon, but dont let them think they went out on a wasted trip, we will need all the supplies we can get when Maggie has the baby" Rick said noticing the worry on Tina's face.

Playing with toy bricks with Judith helped pass the time for Tina, as Poppy lay on the sofa having finished her bottle. "And that one" Tina encouraged Judith as she sweetly placed the bricks ontop of eachother "clever girl!" She exclaimed clapping at the toddler.

Tina put the two children to bed, she knew Rick wouldnt be back before Judith went to bed so was more than happy to have her stay over.

Tina was awoken by intensive knocking on the door, looking out the window she saw the group had returned as they walked slowly to their houses. "Daryl keep it down" she said opening the door as his knocking would wake Judith and Poppy. "Rick?" Tina asked confused as she opened the door to him thinking it was Daryl. "I'll bring Judith back tomorrow its fine she is sleeping now" Tina explained before noticing the look of Rick. He was shaking, it was the first time in a very long time she had seen him this way. "Whats happened? Oh god its not Carl is it?" Tina asked placing a hand over her mouth as Rick got himself together "no, no. Come outside" he whispered taking her hand and sitting her down on the porch and placing the front door on the latch.

As Tina sat she noticed weak smiles from Abraham and Eugene as they walked past to enter their house.

Rick sat beside her and breathed out heavily. Taking her hand into his he looked at the ground, squeezing hers he spoke "We got ambushed" Tina looked at him to continue "every which way we went there was a road block. We took Maggie through the woods but we were trapped, The Saviours made us sit in a line" he added, Tina felt her worry rise "it was just us at first, but then another Saviour brought Daryl, Rosita and Denise out the back of a truck" Rick continued, breathing out again he saw the tears form more in Tina's eyes as she began craning her neck to look around the town "we found Negan" Rick's words bought Tina's attention back to his. "We killed his men, all of us did, so he wanted to make it even" "Rick what are you telling me? Daryl and the girls are hostage?" Tina interrupted him trying to stop the shaking in her voice. Rick rubbed his face with his hands, Tina noticed they were soaked in blood, "Tina, Daryl is dead" he finally revealed. Scooting away from him Tina began hyperventilating "what?" She cried pushing him away from her as he tried to calm her. "Dead? Daryl? " she kept repeating herself. "Is that his blood?" She spoke through sobs. Rick didnt answer, he didnt have to. "Tina, im so sorry, we had no say in any of it." Rick said pulling her into a hug as she broke down in his arms, Rick was tearful too as he stroked her hair "he can handle himself, you know that and so do i! How did this happen?" Tina demanded moving from his arms, Rick shook his head "Rick please" she begged, "we were outnumbered, 15 of us to 150 of them. Negan took an eye for an eye." Rick explained sounding choked at his fallen comrade. "He picked Daryl, out of all of us" Rick began but he was cut off again "you mean you watched? And didnt do anything?" She yelled , tears becoming her now. "Negan didnt know Daryl, he didnt know any of us, all he knew was we killed his men and there was no talking to him." Rick tried to get Tina to see it was fully out of their hands.

"Rick, my heart is broken" she whimpered as she lay into his chest, it hurt her to cry so much but she couldnt stop, the one she loved, her soulmate, the one she had been through so much with was gone.

Tina lay on Rick's lap crying softly for a while, every time she remembered why she was sobbing she started all over again. Rick did nothing but stroke her head as she did. "Where is he?" She asked wiping tears from her face and sitting up looking around the town "T, you dont want to see" Rick whispered trying to pull her back to him. "No i have to see him" she wriggled her arm from his grip and walked over to the RV. Glenn was standing outside he looked just as Rick did, Shaking, puffy eyes. Was this really happening?

"Tina, dont" Glenn said trying to stop her "please let me see him" she begged nudging past him as Rick caught her up. "Let me come with you" he said offering his hand which she quickly gripped onto and held tightly. As she walked into the living area of the RV she saw a body laying down with a sheet over it. Looking instantly at the boots she knew it was Daryl, as she stroked them she spotted the top half of the sheet was saturated with blood, breathing in she looked to Rick who had his hand over his face fighting back tears. "I dont know if i want to" Tina spoke with her voice breaking as she took his hand from under the sheet and gripped onto it and kissed it as tears fell down her cheek.

"I love you Daryl" she whispered as she gently placed his hand back under the sheet, turning to Rick she fell into his chest as she broke down again. "Let it out Tina" he encouraged as he supported her body up. The only sound filling the RV being the cries from Tina as Rick did his best to help soothe her.
