Matt pov;
I think tonight is the night I'm going to propose to gabby. What would be a better time then tonight. She has been through so much the last couple weeks and she could really use a good thing in her life. I want her to know im there for her no matter what. She's my girl. I had to plan the whole thing.
I caught her and told her to meet me at the academy to run some drills for practice for truck later tonight after shift. She agreed.
There hasn't been any more calls so chief let us go early. I went home to grab the ring, I set everything up
I texted gabby if she wanted to do some drills and of course she didn't pass that up. She was so excited to become a fire fighter. I was so nervous but so excited for this at the same time.

Dawson pov:
I got a text from Matt and it said to meet him at the firefighter academy in an hour for some drills. I wouldn't pass that up, my dream was to become a firefighter and I would do anything for extra practice. i grabbed my stuff and went over to the fire academy, Matt was already there I saw his truck there. He walked out of the building.
Matt: alright gabby
He helped me put my air tank on
Matt: okay, run up those stairs and I'll meet you up there, I'll time you. Go as fast as you can.
Gabby: okay
I ran up the stairs and finally got to the top and I saw a box open sitting on the table open, I saw the ring sitting in it. I took my tank off and walked over to it. Matt then walked through the doors and walked towards me with a smile on his face.
Matt: Gabriella dawson will yo-
Gabby: yes yes yes
I didn't even let Matt finish what he was going to say, I kept saying yes until Matt pulled me into his arms and kissed me. We went back to matts place and things escalated very quickly.

Gabby pov:
Next morning.
I opened my eyes and saw the ring on my finger. I couldn't help but smile.
Matt walked into the room and I sat up and pulled the sheets over me.
Gabby: hey look some crazy guy proposed to me last night
Matt couldn't help but smile and leaned down and kissed me.
Gabby: oh my god there is no way Kelly didn't hear us last night
Matt sat down on the bed
Matt: he didn't his bed wasn't slept in he didn't come home, I think he stayed at that girls house last night
I nodded and everything went silent.
Gabby: that's good, that's good he has someone, uh you know..
Matt: hey hey gabby
Gabby: I'm sorry it's just that this wave of emotions come over me sometimes and
Matt: you have to talk time when this happens... You know this
Lifts up my hand that has the ring on it
Matt; isn't all for the free sex lady.
Gabby: uh... I- when I woke up and my first thought was, I can't wait to tell shay and-
Casey: hey gabby, gabby she was happy for us, she helped me pick out the ring. She was really happy for us
Casey came closer to me and leaned in and pulled me in his arms and held me.

Casey pov:
It happened, last night i proposed to my girl. I am the happiest person right now. Gabby and I started to get ready for shift and we drove to work together. We decided not to tell anyone until we figured out what was happening with gabby and her becoming a firefighter because she can't work under me if were married so we just decided to keep everything on the down low until everything was figured out.
We walked into the firehouse hand and hand, I kissed Casey and walked into the locker room.
Everyone met in the kitchen area where chief made an announcement.
Chief: okay everyone. Real quick announcements and then I'll let you guys get back to what you were doing. I found one paramedic, who could be here permanently which means next shift, mills will be back on truck.
Chief: I'm still looking for a replacement for you dawson I promise I'm trying my hardest,
I looked at gabby she looked so disappointed.
chief;, and last announcement, shays memorial.
Everyone got really quiet. I walked over to gabby and grabbed her hand.
Chief: shays sister is coming in to the city for a couple of days and she'll be stopping by in a week, we will do the memorial outside of the firehouse then... hope to see you all can make it. that's all for now, so let's all have a good shift. Dawson Casey my office for a minute

Gabby pov:
Boden walked out of the kitchen area and I looked at Casey and we walked to his office.
we walked into his office and he shut the door behind us.
Boden: hey dawson, I'm so sorry I'm trying my hardest to find a replacement for you.
Dawson: it's okay I don't mind being on ambo
Boden nodded: hey I was thinking once I find a replacement for you on ambo.. You can join truck 81 as a candidate..
Dawson: that would be amazing
I looked at Matt he was nodding.
Boden: the only thing is that, your relationship would have to be on the DL.
Matt looked at me and I nodded
Boden: alright get back to work
Boden smiled as we walked out of his office.
Matt: gabby can I talk to you.
Gabby: yea
I looked at him
Matt pulled me into the conference room and shut the door.
Matt: how could you agree to be on truck. You know we would have to keep our relationship quiet, we just got engaged. We would have to put off the wedding for a year or even longer.
Gabby: I know that b-
Matt: there is no buts gabby, if you're working under me we can't be together.
Gabby: we can be
I walked closer to him
Gabby: we can be together Matt but we can't let anyone know. And as long as I have you in my life I don't need anyone else to know. I love you an i just want to be with you.
Matt: I want to marry you.
Gabby: we will get married Matt, I promise you that
Matt: not if you're working under me!
I could see he was getting angry.
Gabby: okay fine then..
I looked away and thn looked back at him.
Gabby: I'll tell chief I can't work at the house. I'll have him transfer me to a different firehouse.
Matt looked away angrily and then looked back at me
Matt: gabby.
