We are okay now

Matt pov:
The two days off shift have just went by so slow. No calls from gabby. She wouldn't answer me when I called. I just missed my girl and wanted her back.

Gabby pov:
shift just started, I haven't seen or talked to Matt in a couple days. I arrived to the firehouse a little while ago and it's been really awkward around after everyone seeing me really drunk that other night.
Herman: hey dawson
Gabby: hey Herman
Herman: you good?
I nodded
Gabby: sorry about the other night at Molly's....
He waved at me
Herman: don't worry about it! It's all good!
I walked over to the counter and grabbed a cup of coffee.
Brett has been trying to keep me busy and focused on other things but I can't stop thinking about Matt. I just need him back in my life. I want to forgive him. I need him but right now I just can't find a place to.
I looked over at Matt as I got my coffee and then the bells went off.

AMBO 61 TRUCK 81 SQUAD 3 ALL ROUND FIRE KENZIE AND WESTERN.

We all dropped what we were doing and ran out the doors. Brett and I ran to ambo and we were the first ones to pull out and the first to the fire. We arrived and it was an abandoned building, but we saw someone laying on the ground by the building.
Gabby: Brett there's someone over there
I looked at Brett and grabbed my radio
Gabby; how far away are you truck?
Truck: no more then 2 minutes.
I looked at Brett, we can't wait.
I grabbed my bag and ran over to the victim
Brett: gabby wait.
I got over to him
Gabby: you're gonna be okay sir!
I checked his pulse
Gabby: his pulse is week, he must have breathed in a lot of smoke! Brett I need an oxygen mask for him
I said and coughed as I started breathing in the smoke that was coming out the window behind me
Brett: gabby the smoke is turning black
I looked at her and looked up and last thing I remember was a really loud boom.

Matt pov:
We finally arrive to the scene. We all hopped out of the trucks. And I saw Brett running up to a body that looked a lot like...
Matt: GABBY!
I ran over to them the team not to far behind.
Matt: what happened
I saw Brett get down closer and check her pulse.
Brett: she was helping that man over there and the building flashed and she got her head. Her pulse is strong but she's just knocked out, she hit her head pretty good.
Mouch: leutinet, the guy over there is gone.
I looked at mouch then back at Brett.
Chief: get her in the ambo and over to med. Brett stay with her and we'll get there after we put this fire out.
The guys helped Brett get her onto a back board and loaded her into the ambo.
Matt: please stay with her.
Brett put her hand on my shoulder and hopped in the front of the ambo
Brett: she's gonna be fine!
She cracked a smile and drove off.

Brett pov:
We got her to the hospital and gabby was starting to regain conciousness.
Doctor: what happened
Brett: she hit her head pretty good. Pulse is strong tho
Doctor: okay got it from here
They took gabby
Doctor: roll her for an MRI
The nurses agreed and took her. I went into the waiting room and sat down, a little while later the guys started showing up.
Chief: any news?
Brett: they took her to do some tests but when we got here she started regaining consciousness. She should be okay.
I looked at Matt and smiled.
Brett: I'm gonna go down and check on her.
Chief nodded and I walked down through the doors and to the room the nurses told me gabby would be in. I walked on gabby was asleep. I sat down in the chair next to her bed.
I sat there for a little bit and gabby started waking up.
Gabby: Matt.
She said weakly from all the medicine
Brett: no gabby it's me
Gabby: oh hi Brett
Brett: hey how are you feeling
Gabby: better
Brett: hey you really scared me out there
Gabby: sorry
She cracked a smile

Gabby pov:
I looked at Brett
Gabby: what happened
Brett: you don't remember?
I shook my head and looked at her
Brett: we got a call and we arrived first on the scene, you saw a guy by the building and ran up to him and it flashed.
Gabby: how's the guy from the fire
Brett shook her head and looked down.
I looked in the opposite direction and closed my eyes
Gabby: I just wanted to help him....
Brett: you tried gabby..
Gabby: stop. I-I just want to be alone.. Just tell everyone I'll see them later.
Brett: gabby..
Gabby: Brett please.
Brett: okay okay.
I watched as Brett walked out of the room, I rolled over facing the window and closed my eyes.

Matt pov:
Brett walked out to the waiting room. All the guys stood up and looked at her
Brett: she's okay, she's resting the doctor said she needed it. She told me she doesn't want to see anyone right now. Not feeling up to it. She told me she's thankful you're all out here.
I saw Brett crack and smile and walk the opposite direction.
Chief: alright let's all head back to the firehouse I'll have the doctor call us for any updates.
I walked after Brett
Matt: Brett.. Is she okay?
I saw her shrug
Brett: I think she blames herself for not being able to save that guy at the fire. I don't know Matt.
I looked down
Brett: go in there, try and talk to her. She needs you Matt.
Matt: does she want to see me?
Brett: who cares if she really wants to see you right now..
I looked at her.
Brett: just go try and talk to her.. She still loves you Matt. She needs you right now.
I nodded and watched the guys walk out.
Matt: chief, do you mind if I stay here I'll keep my radio on.
Chief looked at me and nodded
Chief: yes. Radio on.
I nodded and everyone walked out. I walked into gabby's room and saw her sleeping. I walked in and sat at down in the chair next to her bed. She rolled over and slowly started opening her eyes
Gabby: Matt?
I looked at her
Gabby: Matt what are you doing here?
Matt: I just wanted to check on you..
Gabby: I'm fine.
Matt: gabby.
I looked at her and tear rolled down her face.
Matt: I'm sorry..
Gabby just looked at me.
Matt: I really am and I would do anything to make all of it up to you. Gabby you're the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love you more then you'll ever know, I want you in my life forever.
I cupped her face in my hands and she looked up at me and sniffled, she brought her hand up to mine.
Gabby: please don't ever let me walk out again, I need you in my life. I want you and only you Matt.
I looked down at her with shock and nodded, she sat up, swung her legs over the bed and wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly.
Matt: im so sorry

Matt: I'm so sorry
Gabby: stop stop
I pulled away from the hug and cupped matts face in my hands
Gabby: stop it's okay, we are okay now. Everything is okay and that's all that matters.
I wiped the tear that was rolling down his cheek and looked at him
I pecked a kiss on his lips and hugged him again and he hugged me tightly.the doctor then walked in and we pulled away from eachother.
Doctor: hey Gabriella dawson how are you feeling?
Gabby: good, I feel fine to be honest just a headache...
The doctor nodded
Gabby: is there any way I can go home?
I looked at him
Doctor: I wanna keep you over night just because you hit your head pretty hard and i just want to be safe...
I nodded
Gabby: okay
The doctor looked at Matt who was sitting in the chair next to the bed
Gabby: is there any way that he could stay the night here with me?
I looked at Matt and then I looked at the doctor
Doctor: yea I suppose he could.
The doctor looked at me and then walked out
Gabby: what an ass.
I said as I watched the door shut and looked at Matt.
Matt: hey don't mind him.
I looked back at Matt.
Matt: I'm still on shift so if there is any calls I might have to leave
I nodded an moved over on the other side of the bed and laid down, Matt stood up and took his walkie off placed it on the chair and laid down beside me, he turned around and faced me. I pecked a kiss on his lips.
Matt: thank you for forgiving me.
Gabby: I'm sorry for blowing up at you at the apartment last night..
He shook his head
Matt: don't apologize. You don't have to.
I looked up at him
Gabby: you were so drunk?you can't remember anything? You won't ever do it again. Promise me you won't make me look like a fool for forgiving you matt..
I looked over at him with my begging eyes
Matt; I was beyond drunk, I don't remember shit and I would never make you look like a fool.
He grabbed my hand
Gabby: please. Please don't leave me, don't.. I don't want to ever feel that way again
Matt: hey
He used his arm as an arm rest and lifted himself up a little bit.
Matt; I promise you, I swear to god that I won't. You're the only one I want in my life. I love you so much gabby.
Gabby: I love you to
I leaned up and kissed him and then fell back down on my pillow and he rested his head on his pillow and we rolled to face each other.
Matt: I think you're missing something...
He pulled the ring that I took off out of his pocket and held it in front of me, I took it out of his hand and placed it back on my finger and I grabbed his hand and leaned in and kissed him.
then we heard the radio go off.

AMBO 61 PERSON DOWN FROM CHEST PAINS

Matt: it was just ambo
Gabby: did they get a replacement for me..
Matt nodded
Matt: don't worry about anything, close your eyes. Get some rest, it's getting late.
He leaned over and kissed my forehead
I nodded and looked up at him
Gabby: leave me a note if you leave for a call.. Just so I know.
Matt nodded and kissed my forehead again.
Matt: close your eyes. It's all okay now.
I rested my head in his arms and he pulled the covers up over me and I closed my eyes as he rubbed my shoulder gently.
•next morning•
I woke up, Matt wasn't here, I sat up on my bed and saw a little note on the side table. "Got a call, call me when you wake up. Love you"
I cracked a smile to myself. The doctor walked in a little bit after
Doctor; alright Gabriella everything seems to be all good so I'm going to release you. Grab your stuff and then there's papers to fill out at the nurses station and then you are all set to go.
Gabby: thanks
I smiled and I got up grabbed my stuff, went out to the nurses station and walked out to the front of the hospital. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and called Matt.
*phone call*
Matt: hey baby
Gabby: hey, I got your note, they just released me..
Matt: that's great. We just got back from a call, shift is about to end I'm going to change and then I'll come and pick you up?
Gabby: yea sure, I'll be at the diner across the street
Matt: okay I'll be there soon, love you
Gabby: love you too.
I smiled and hung up and walked over to the diner across the street.

Matt pov:
We just got back from shift and all headed to the locker room. My phone rang and I answered it,it was gabby
*phone call*
Matt: hey baby
Gabby: hey, I got your note, they just released me..
Matt: that's great. We just got back from a call, shift is about to end I'm going to change and then I'll come and pick you up?
Gabby: yea sure, I'll be at the diner across the street
Matt: okay I'll be there soon, love you
Gabby: love you too.
I smiled and she hung up.i placed my phone down in my locker and looked behind me at Herman smiling like an idiot
Herman: I knew you guys were going to be okay...
I smiled again
Matt: don't you just know everything
I grabbed my jacket and shut my locker and giggled
Matt: see you next shift man!
I patted him on the back, took out my keys and hopped into my truck and drove over to the diner. I got out and walked in and saw gabby sitting down in the booth in the corner of the place. I sat down and ordered a coffee for myself
Matt: hey babe
Gabby: hi
She smiled at me
Gabby: how was the call?
Matt: not to bad
Gabby; thanks for leaving a note
She smiled again
Matt: well you told me to
I giggled and smiled and the waitress came over and handed me my coffee, she smiled and drank more of her coffee. We finished up and we got into my truck
Matt: where to?
Gabby: well if you want we could go back to your place and you can get changed or my place it doesn't matter
Matt: okay my place it is!
We drove back to my place, gabby went to sit on the couch and I ran upstairs and washed up and changed into normal cloths, I walked back down and sat next to gabby
Matt: hey I was thinking......
I looked at her
Gabby: about what?
Matt: well we are always at one or the others apartments... There's no point of both of us owning a place you always end up staying here anyways.. plus we are engaged we'll have to do it sooner or later so why don't you move in with me..
Gabby: I would, totally on a heart beat. You know that to Matt but I feel like this place has way to many memories for you..
I grabbed her hand
Matt: then let's find a new place. Together. Me and you.
Gabby: you would do that?
Matt: absolutely, in a heart beat, you're my girl. I plan on spending the rest of my life with you And only you
Gabby smiled and hugged me and nodded.
Gabby: then let's do it.
I smiled and leaned in and kissed her.
Matt: I love you.
Gabby: I love you so much.
