You're My Everything (a dawsey fan fic)

the next morning.

the next morning the sun was shinning in through the window and it woke me up and then the alarm went off a little bit after.
matt leaned over and turned it off and then looked back over at me.
matt: what are you doing up babe?
gabby: we really need better shades, because the sun just shines right through in the morning and i-
i just yelled aggravated.
matt: hey calm down, i can get some better ones
gabby: no i-
gabby put his hand on my shoulder
matt: gabby it's okay, it's not a big deal. i'll find some cheap ones that will do the job and keep the sun out.
i took a deep breath
matt: go back to sleep baby
gabby: matt, do you have to go to work today?
matt: i do babe, we need the money and anyways it's to late to call out.
i nodded and looked at him
gabby: do you think i can come with you to the firehouse today?
matt: the doctor said bed rest.
gabby: i know but i want to tell everyone what's going on, and i don't want to be home alone. please i won't work or do anything i promise.
he looked at me hesitantly and then nodded
matt: but only because i'm worried about you and don't want you to be home alone.
i leaned up and hugged him.
matt: how are you feeling today?
gabby: i really feel fine, no pain. i'm good.
i cracked a reassuring smile.
matt: you would tell me if something didn't feel right?
gabby: yes.
matt leaned down and over and kissed me gently on the forehead.
matt: alright, im going to get ready for shift and then we can go.
i nodded and matt got changed, i put on some sweat pants and a firehouse sweatshirt with sneakers. matt got all ready and then walked out to his truck and drove to the firehouse, he parked the truck and before he got out i stopped him.
gabby: matt, how do we tell them?
matt: we'll do it together, they're family and they'll understand babe.
gabby: boden first?
matt: yeah, and we'll tell him you can't work. don't stress about it babe, it'll all be okay.
i nodded and we got out of the car, no one was in yet. matt and i walked to the locker area and put his bag in his locker. we walked into the common room still no one was there. we saw chief walk to his office. matt and i looked at eachother and nodded. we both walked to bodens office and knocked on the door, he waved us in.
boden: you two are here early, what can i help you both with?
matt: we wanted to talk to you about a couple things.
boden: yeah of course take a seat.
we both sat down in the chairs in front of his desk.
boden: how are you feeling gabby?
gabby: that's one of the things we wanted to talk to you about..
boden: what's wrong?
i looked at matt for him to continue.
matt: we went to one of the check ups yesterday and there's a risk for her, she needs to stop working and if she doesn't she could lose the baby and get really hurt in the process. she has a chance of hemorrhage during pregnancy.
boden: oh god guys.. i'm sorry.
matt: we just wanted to talk about her leave
boden: of course. as much time as you need starting today. i'll talk to arson and they'll understand
gabby: thank you so much chief.
boden: of course!
matt: and our other question was, we were looking to get married sooner then later,, we wanted to know if it's okay to have a firehouse wedding?
boden: of course it it. talk to the guys and have them help you set it all up, give me the details when you know and we'll have it here.
matt: thank you chief.
we all stood up and i hugged chief.
gabby: is it okay if i hang here for today?
boden: you never have to ask, you are family here and you're always welcomed here.
i cracked a smile and we both exited the room and walked into the common room where everyone finally was. everyone eating breakfast, i sat down and matt made me a plate and sat next to me.
matt: while everyone is here might as well let you all know. gabby and i have 2 things to tell you.
otis: uh oh, good or bad?
gabby: one good,, one bad
cruz: bad first.
i looked at matt and he nodded and grabbed my hand under the table
gabby: well i'm not going to be able to work for the next months of my pregnancy..
brett; why not?
she looked concerned
gabby: i have a good chance on losing the baby if i do; and i can't take that chance.
i tried to explain as simple as possible.
hermann: oh god.. how bad?
i shrugged
gabby: don't know yet, but i'm doing everything i can, and if that means stop working im going to
hermann: of course
he rubbed my shoulder and smiled at me
cruz: and with the good news?
gabby: matt and i are getting married, we asked boden if we could use the house and he obviously said yes.
severide: FINALLY.
hermann: when?
everyone looked at us so excited
matt: we aren't sure yet, but before any other problems start that's for sure.
everyone let out light cheer.
a little later everyone started to go their own ways and it was just brett and i at the table, she moved closer to me and smiled
brett: how are you feeling?
gabby: i'm okay, seriously i am. i'm scared but okay.
brett: you got this, and i'm here for you through it all.
gabby: i know, thank you so much.
brett: i have something for you
gabby: oh god, what is it?
i let out a giggle i looked at her and pulled out a magazine
gabby: what is this?
she turned it over and it was a magazine with wedding dresses in it.
i let out a laugh
brett: i wanna help you. we can do all the planning together, for the baby and the wedding!
gabby: of course, thank you.
i leaned over and hugged her.

•AMBULANCE 61 TRUCK 81 SQUAD 3 FIRE AT 187 3RD STREET.•
everyone got up and ran to their trucks.
brett: when i get back you and i will go through that.
gabby: got it.
i smiled and she ran out, and matt passed, i grabbed his hand
gabby: be careful
matt: always.
he smiled and leaned down kissed me and ran out.

matt pov:

i smiled and leaned down kissed her and jogged lightly out the doors.
i caught up to brett
matt: thank you for doing that for her
brett: i got to help my best friend and you're guys baby
i smiled
matt: and you're the best brett. thank you
she smiled at me and nodded
brett: better get on that truck before they leave your ass
she laughed and i hopped on and the truck rolled out with the ambulance. we got to the fire, it wasn't as bad and we expected it to be. we got it out within an hour, 1 victim who only had smoke inhalation. we got back to the firehouse a little while after. i hopped out and took my gear off and walked into the common room expecting to see gabby, but she wasn't in there, i walked around trying to look for her no where, i then walked into my office with panic and saw her quietly sleeping on my bed. i took a deep breath and smiled, i leaned down and pulled the covers over her and walked out of the room quietly shutting the door. i saw sev sitting in his office at his desk, i knocked on the door and he waved me in.
sev: hey man.
matt: hey.
sev: how are you holding up?
matt: good, for now
i giggled
sev: excited to be married?
matt: of course, she's the love of my entire life kelly, i can't wait!
i sat down on the foot of the bed.
matt: nervous something is going to happen during this pregnancy but,,
sev: nothing is going to happen, she's super strong, she get through it.
matt: yeah, well that's not what i came in here to talk about i came to ask you a question.
sev: sure what's up?
he turned around and looked at me
matt; for the wedding, will you be my best man?
sev: what? yeah of course man! i'd be honored!
i took a deep breath.
matt: thank you so much!
i stood up and so did he and we both hugged eachother.
sev: thank you for asking me..
matt: wouldn't want it to be anyone else.
they just smiled at eachother and then there was a light knock at the door.
hermann: hey dinner is done, i don't know if you wanted me to wake dawson up but i just wanted to let you guys know.
matt: i'll wake her up, thanks hermann
hermann: of course.
matt: alright im going to go wake gabby up, meet you out in the common room.
sev nodded and i walked into my office and walked over to the bed where gabby was laying down so peacefully.
matt: hey baby?
i gently shook her to wake her up
gabby: yeah?
she rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up
matt: hey dinner is done, i wanted to wake you before those beasts eat everything
she nodded
matt: you feel alright?
gabby: yeah, i'm just really tired
matt: alright let's get you something to eat then you can go back to sleep
she agreed and she got up with me and we both walked out to the common room, she sat down next to me and hermann. we all ate dinner together and kind of hung out in the common room.
gabby and brett went over more pictures of wedding dresses together, she just looked so happy.
time passed and it started getting later again. everyone headed off to their bunks gabby and i walked to my office and we both laid down in my bunk, i wrapped my arm around her and kissed the top of her head.
matt: goodnight baby, i love you.
gabby; i love you too.
within the next couple minutes we were both out like a light
