The next night, the demons and angels slept together as allies.

Once everyone was asleep, Aphmau got up. She had to see Aaron again. As she was leaving the camp, however, Zane roused himself and got up.

"Aphmau? What are you doing?"

Aphmau stopped cold. "Zane? What are you doing up?"

"I was hungry for a cupcake. Sue me." Zane said, staring Aphmau down.

"Oh. Wait. What's a cupcake?" Aphmau stepped back into the camp.

Zane tossed Aphmau a cupcake. "It's delicious. Try it."

Aphmau bit into the cupcake. Pure joy rushed through her veins. "Mmph. You're right. It is yummy."

"Hah! I knew I wasn't the only one with a sweet tooth!" Zane whispered triumphantly as he munched on a cupcake like a champ. Aphmau giggled.

"So? What are you doing?" Zane asked.

"Uhh... seeing someone... a mortal..."

"Oh." Zane said. "I trust your judgement."

"Okay...?" Aphmau looked at him suspiciously before spreading her wings and flying off.

Zane counted to five before following.

"Aaron?" Aphmau whispered into the darkness. Suddenly, one of her wings was lifted. She turned around to see Aaron holding one of her wings, examining it.

"Hey!" Aphmau squeaked, pulling her wing away. She smacked Aaron with her other wing, knocking him to the floor.

"Hey!" Aaron protested, blushing. Aphmau glared at him, then charged Aaron, playfully tackling him. Aaron pushed Aphmau off, and got up. He laughed, a little.

"So... I see you've fallen for me!" Aaron joked.

Aphmau laughed. "Hah! How am I supposed to fall for you if I can't even see your face?!"

Aaron laughed a little bit, then took on a serious face. Or, at least, Aphmau assumed it was serious. Aphmau looked down. "I guess I hit a nerve there. Sorry."

"It's okay... just... you do have a point." Aaron pointed out.

Aphmau lifted one of her wings. "Can I?" She asked. Aaron stood there for a moment before nodding in a very tense, serious way.

Carefully, tentatively, Aphmau lifted Aaron's hood with her wing. She lifted his bandana. Aaron took it off.

He was somewhat stunning. Dark eyes, dark hair, a scratched up face. For the first time, Aphmau locked eyes with Aaron.

"Oh..." Aphmau gasped. Aaron looked down.

"Guess I can't really charm you with my face." Aaron said.

"No! It's just... you're so..."

"Ugly? Beat-up?" Aaron supplied.

"No! I was thinking... handsome..." Aphmau said, blushing. She looked down.

"Heh. I guess you really are an angel. You can't say something mean." Aaron said.

"Hey! I'm serious, you big idiot!"

"Aaron the Idiot. You know, it kind of has a ring to it."

Aphmau stuttered, blushing even deeper. Aaron laughed.

"Your face! Did you really think I was serious! Ha!" Aaron roared, his laughter almost shaking Zane from his tree.

"You... grrrrrrr..." Aphmau growled, her hands clenched into fists, her face red with anger. She stood there, her muscles tense, steaming, until suddenly she burst into laughter.

Zane had seen enough. He trusted Aphmau. As silent as possible, he slipped out of the tree and flew back to camp, where Katelyn and Michi were awake, their arms crossed, anime fire in their eyes, their teeth grinding.

"Oh shit." Zane muttered under his breath. "Sorry Aph. I can't lie to them. They're holding my cupcakes hostage!"

When Aphmau landed back in camp, she was tackled by Michi.

Katelyn came running up, pursued by Zane. "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU, APHMAU?! A MORTAL?! A GODDAMN MOTHER-FUCKING MORTAL?! I CANT BELIEVE YOU! SHOWING YOUR WINGS TO A GODDAMN, MOTHER-FUCKING JERKASS PIECE OF BULLSHITTED BITCHCRAP MORTAL?! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!"

Aphmau squeaked, cowering. Zane gave her a sympathetic, apologetic look. He shrugged.

Katelyn's rant continued. "I SWEAR, APHMAU! I... I JUST CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE THIS!"

Vylad leaned in next to Zane. "On a scale of regular rampage to blacktail, what would you rate this?"

"By Laurance's standards, I'd say a bluetail." Zane whispered back.

"A scale of rage? I hope bluetail's the lowest thing you have, 'cause this is one of Katelyn's better moods." Emmalyn whispered.

Zane and Vylad shuddered violently. Growing up with Laurance, they were sure they knew rage. But looking at Katelyn, they now knew true rage.

It was terrifying.

Zane reached into his cupcake bag and grabbed another cupcake. He offered it to Emmalyn. She graciously accepted it.

"Hmm. It's sweet, but okay. I guess." Emmalyn said.

"You should be glad he even offered you one. Zane has a sweetfang the size of a mountain." Vylad whispered to Emmalyn. As if to prove Vylad's point, Zane proceeded to gulp down several cupcakes.

"Oh." Emmalyn said, taking more of this. No wonder Zane was quick to tell Katelyn and Michi what Aphmau did. They had held his cupcakes hostage, after all!

Eventually, Michi got off of Aphmau and Katelyn tired herself out.

But Katelyn was still pissed.
