Thirty-Four - Did You Really Think This Would Work?

"Okay, so this is the plan. Michi, Vylad, Aaron, Nicole, Jeffory and I will enter in through the front to create a diversion, while Aphmau, Katelyn, Lucinda, Travis and Kawaii-Chan sneak in to surprise Laurance from behind. Any questions?" Emmalyn explained.

"Just one. When do we start?" Michi asked, grinning.

"Right now." Emmalyn replied, grinning as well. But as excited as she was, she couldn't help feeling a little afraid. What if she was wrong? What if somebody died? But now was not the time for second-guessing. Now was the time for ACTION!

After building the portal, everyone jumped in. Vylad threw down a bottle of demonflame, turning the non-demons into demons. Immediately the group split up, and began to make their way to the fortress.

When Emmalyn's group got there, they paused and waited behind the rocks.

Then, without warning, they attacked!

Nicole and Jeffory rushed ahead, with Michi and Vylad just behind them, just as they planned. Imps rushed out of the castle doors, and the four demons and not-so demons began to fight.

Behind the rocks, Emmalyn held her breath and hoped her guess was correct. It had better be.

"Now, what is going on here? Don't tell me you can't handle a few runts!" The voice sent shivers down Emmalyn's wings. She was right.

Emmalyn came out from behind the rocks, holding up a sword. She was right. Facing her was another succubus, this one clearly a magicks user. Emmalyn focused her own magicks, and her wings began to glow along with her sword. The succubus looked at Emmalyn, and smiled deviously. "Finally, a true challenge! Fight me, BookWing!"

Emmalyn smiled. "Alright, but you asked for it!" She yelled as she rushed forwards faster than ever. The succubus also rushed forwards, and they began to clash swords. "Guys, go! I'll hold her off!" She called out. Immediately Michi, Vylad, Nicole and Jeffory rushed forwards, into the fortress.

"Fighting me alone? You've got guts, I'll give you that much." The succubus said, focusing her magicks. Her claws and sword began to glow black, in sharp contrast to the white glow of Emmalyn's wings and sword. Emmalyn responded to this by focusing her magic even more, and feeling her hope increase. Suddenly, astral wings, as big as any angel's, manifested around her own, and glowing so bright they were almost opaque.

The succubus laughed as big, black astral wings formed around her own. Now both girls took to the air in an aerial battle.

Emmalyn sighed. This was gonna take awhile.

Inside the fortress, Michi, Vylad, Nicole, and Jeffory made their presence very clear as they beat up guard after guard.

Suddenly, a dark gray imp jumped out of the shadows, knocking Michi back. It was no other than Michi's father (dramatic music, gasps from the audience).

"Michi. How long has it been since I've seen you? You never come to visit your old man." He cackled, lunging at his daughter. Michi dodged, and begun to clash swords with him.

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine! Just finish the mission!" Michi yelled to her comrades. Nicole and Jeffory looked to Vylad, who nodded. Then the trio continued on their way.

Gritting her teeth, Michi doubled her determination, fighting back against her father with even more force.

"When you were spawned, it was the greatest day of my life. But now, as much as I don't want to, I must fight you. I'm sorry." He snarled. Michi fought harder. If she finished this fight fast enough, she could catch up the others and confront Laurance. She couldn't give up now.

Aphmau's group was having better luck. Seeing as almost every demon in the fortress was fighting he other group, they didn't run into anything very troubling.

When they reached the throne room in the center, they rushed in, followed by Nicole, Jeffory, and Vylad,

Inside the throne room, a small army of demons stood, waiting. Waiting for them.

But that didn't matter now. Aphmau surged forwards with her friends, her blade clashing with the demons' as everyone struggled to stay alive.

Suddenly, the demon fighting Aphmau knocked her sword from her hand. He was about to attack when Katelyn moved in and blocked his sword with her armored wings. "Thanks." Aphmau said, exhausted. Katelyn nodded and continued fighting.

Even though Aphmau's group was strong, they were outnumbered. Suddenly, the fighting stopped as two figures, who were obviously fighting one another, burst in through the ceiling. Aaron jumped down after the two figures, and Michi burst in through the doors, looking extremely PISSED.

The two figures stood up, revealing themselves to be a succubus and Emmalyn. Emmalyn, even though she was exhausted, looked AWESOME with her astral wings, her astral sword, and the glowing lines of white light that appeared to be carved into her face. Her opponent, however, looked thoroughly exhausted and beaten, hardly even able to stand. The succubus collapsed, and immediately the fighting spirit in the demons was gone. They all vanished, disappearing into various secret passageways in the throne room.

"Wait a minute. Where's Laurance?" Michi asked, confused and enraged.

"He's not here!" Nicole said, angry yet exhausted.

Emmalyn froze. She had fucked up, and she knew it.

Shit shit shit shit.

Suddenly, the floor seemed to come alive as iron bars surged up from cracks in the floor, surrounding Aphmau and Emmalyn, trapping them. Everyone surged towards the cage, trying to break the bars, but before they could, some unseen force moved through the room, knocking everyone unconscious.

Emmalyn watched all of this, frozen in fear, until she was the only one still conscious.

Then her whole world went black.
