Why is he so infuriating?!
Ugh! Blasted pervert!
Katelyn growled, grinding her teeth in anger. Aphmau was still nowhere to be found, and Travis wasn't helping. It was just... so... INFURIATING!
"He just doesn't get it. It's my sacred duty as her guard to find and protect Aphmau!" Katelyn huffed, kicking a chair right out of the tent.
The camp was in shambles. Soon after everyone came to, Aaron had left, for unknown reasons. Michi was missing when everyone regained consciousness in the Nether, and once they got back to the Overworld, Kawaii-Chan and Lucinda became busy tending to everyone's wounds and injuries. Katelyn's own wing was in a splint.
"Ugh! Stupid! Idiot! Acting like he understands me! Damn pervert!" Katelyn yelled, knocking things about.
"Katelyn-Sama, Kawaii-Chan doesn't think wrecking the medical tent will help." Kawaii-Chan said, grabbing onto Katelyn's non-injured wing and holding the raging ball of fury down.
Katelyn quickly regained her composure. Calm. She had to remain calm.
"I'm sorry, KC, it's just..." Katelyn's sobs rang out across the camp, capturing the hopelessness that had settled upon them all.
"Kawaii-Chan understands, Katelyn-Sama." Kawaii-Chan said, stroking Katelyn's wings. But no comfort could truly distill the awful mood that embraced the whole group. A fog of futility had settled upon the camp, thick with despair and dreariness.
Katelyn, calmed a little, stood up, knees weak, and trembling, limped out the tent to face the sun, which seemed to linger just above the horizon, as if it too was in a fog of despair. A thin, cool mist floated through the camp this morning, adding a somber chill to the silence in the air.
Seeing Travis standing at the edge of the camp, staring towards the sun, Katelyn turned around, and briskly made her way to where the injured lay. Escaping the Nether had resulted in many injuries, with Jeffory bearing the worst of it, and Nicole hardly faring better. Both were still asleep.
Vylad, however, was awake, yet still unable to walk on his broken leg, which sat in a splint, useless. Propped up against a tree, Vylad stared at the ground, lost in thought.
"Hey." Katelyn said, hobbling over to Vylad and sitting down next to him.
"Hey yourself." Vylad said, still staring at the ground.
"So... is your leg still giving you grief?" Katelyn asked after several moments of awkward silence.
Vylad managed a small smile in the face of such awkwardness.
Several more awkward moments passed with neither saying a word.
"Katelyn... Do you think I did the right thing?"
"What do you mean?"
"When Garroth attacked. Do you think I did the right thing in letting him go?" Vylad asked.
"You know I can't decide that. It's up to you to decide whether you did the right thing. But... I bet Zane would..." Katelyn paused, noticing Vylad's frown. "Sorry." She said. "I know it must be a sore subject."
"You're fine. It's just..." Vylad said, making a counter-productive attempt at diluting the awkwardness.
"It's just what?" Katelyn asked.
"It's just... I remember him saying that everybody has an equal potential for good and evil, and that's what I don't understand." Vylad confessed. "I mean, I get that anyone can be a good guy and anyone can be the bad guy, and I get that you can make a choice, but isn't there a point where you can't go back?"
