Michi and Sasha flashed swords like there was no tomorrow.

The whole time, Sasha kept laughing like a crazy person, and Michi yowled out of frustration and grief.

Now, both demons exhausted, they stood, facing each other, sweating hard.

"Ahuhuhu. You're really good at this, Michi. Who'd have thought that you could actually fight? Ahuhuhu."

Michi growled, gripping her sword. Like a flash of lightning, she surged forwards, so fast you couldn't even see the tip of her sword.

Sasha also surged forwards, but not as fast.

In an instant, it was over. Sasha, mortally wounded, fell to the ground, blood dribbling from her mouth.

But Michi wasn't done. Sasha killed Zane. Sasha was gonna pay.

Michi lifted Sasha into the air, and ripped her still beating heart out of the succubus' chest. With only a single squeeze, Michi crushed the precious organ, splattering herself with blood.

But Sasha was still breathing. Michi, acting out of rage and fury and grief, tossed Sasha into a nearby lava pool, and then collapsed, her exhaustion having finally caught up to her now that the adrenaline was gone.

Her friends rushed over to her, only to find that she was unconscious, the shock of losing her love and doing what she did too much for her to bear.

Aaron watched as the portal appeared, then as everyone exited, looking crestfallen. Katelyn was carrying an unconscious Michi, who was splattered with blood. Everyone looked like they had witnessed something traumatic. An unfamiliar succubus was with them.

Everyone, except Zane. Who, for some reason, wasn't with them.

"What happened? Why is Zane-Kun not with you? Kawaii-Chan needs to know." Kawaii-Chan asked as the portal disappeared.

Aphmau sighed. She sat down, her wings curled around herself. Her shoulders heaved.

"Oh..." Kawaii-Chan said as the truth slowly dawned on her.

Vylad, who had been bringing up the rear, stared down at a small, black flame in his claws. Why hadn't it disappeared yet? And why did Zane's body disappear? It made no sense.

Suddenly, the flame flew from Vylad's claws, twirling through the air. It grew bigger as it whirled around, and everyone just watched in pure astonishment as the ball of demonflame, now five times it's size, rocketed through the air towards... Aaron?

"Oof." Aaron said, falling to the ground as it struck him.

For a second, Aaron lie there, and everyone held their breaths. Then, a tiny, black flame appeared. It spread, and Aaron was enveloped within.

A moment later, the flame disappeared, and everyone stared in shocked silence at Aaron, who lie there, unconscious.

His hood had fallen off, and two silver horns gleamed. Two slits in the back of his jacket had formed, and sticking through them were two black, feathered wings. A long, silver tail with a black poof at the end (like a lion's tail) lie curled, next to Aaron.

"Okay... CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT IN THE NAME IF ALL THINGS FUCKED IS GOING ON?!" Katelyn asked, turning towards Vylad.

"Yes. Hmmm... Vylad, what was that thing that struck Aaron?" Emmalyn asked, giving Vylad a suspicious stare.

"It's called demonflame. It's the life-force of a demon, where their memories are stored. It's also what makes a demon a demon, so if one can summon their demonflame, it can be used to temporarily turn either mortal or an angel into a demon." Vylad explained.

"So basically, you just turned a mortal into a demon. Although, I guess it won't do any harm, seeing as its temporary." Emmalyn said, summing up the situation.

"Except that demonflame wasn't Vylad's." Lucinda suddenly piped up. Everyone turned to look at her. "Everydemon's demonflame is unique. Not all demons can actually sense that difference. What? I'm a witch. I know these things."

Now everyone turned to look at Vylad. "It was Zane's. Just before his body turned to dust, it flew into my hands. Except... I've never heard of anything like that. I've never heard of a demon's demonflame acting the way Zane's did."

"It's... it's still temporary, right?" Aphmau asked.

Vylad shook his head. "Because it's the full life-force of Zane. In other words, Aaron's transformation is... permanent."

Everyone now turned their attention to Aaron, who was still unconscious, and Aphmau, who was kneeling down beside him, his left claw in her hands.

But Vylad still had to figure out what happened to Zane.

It should have stopped beating by now.

Let's go and see if he's dead yet.

...

Wait a minute... what's happening?

Why is it still beating?

...

Why is... why is it still beating?!

...

Am I imaging things, or could the legends-no, they're just stories.

...

But...

But what if they are real?

...

What if... what if he's still alive?

...

Do I kill him?

...

Do I spare him?

...

Or...

Do I delay his respawning?

...

I'll have to wait and see where this leads.

...

This will be my last experiment...

...

But not yet...

Because this story is getting interesting.
